Yeah, that’s what I remember: “G” for “GO”

    I suppose J is for Jump. >8^)

I have yet to find a hotkey reference that is formatted in a way useful to myself. IMO it needs to be twofold:

One by function – but this is quite difficult, because the functions span several windows and I suspect vary subtle for some functions.

    One ‘alphabetical’.

Maybe a third, just by window.

So, that document is getting quite long.

For some reason, the official Adobe layouts I find near-useless: they share that design disease I call ‘macitis’, in that there’s too much whitespace and the fonts are freekin’ tiny.

  • IMO, a public bug list would be a point in a company’s favor, and would save users a lot of time.

Meanwhile, from my research it appears the proxy system is brittle at best, and broken at worst. Too bad, as the described feature would be quite a timesaver.

Interesting! My home system doesn’t have VLC so I suspect you’re right.

Of all the things to get RIGHT in the OS,when they ignore other, more pressing problems!

IMO the director needs to be slapped: if they want this effect, it can be accomplished a thousand times more easily if properly shot.

Very very bad practice. And that’s the polite version. ‘Fix it in post’ is a very foolish attitude.

  • It’s not that I’m ‘reporting’ it here, Todd, I’m asking if it’s a known bug.

Come to think of it, is there a public list of known bugs so we don’t waste time fighting something that can’t be overcome?

A coworker shared this tip the other day, amazing how useful it is:

The problem is you haven’t nailed the left side perfectly. To snap the Anchor Point while using the Pan Behind tool, hold down the ctrl key.

TMK it won’t snap to an EDGE, but it will snap to a corner.

(I think it would be GREAT if we could just grab a SIDE instead of all this futzing around.)

  • Good stuff there, beyond just “Hey! YOu can do this!

    Thanks Todd!

(At some point I knew this was possible, but I’d forgotten it for YEARS.)

June 23, 2013 at 7:01 am in reply to: Clips in AE: replacing, virtual clips, editing

    Thanks John.

I think I’d prefer to set the I/O points before dropping it into the timeline, since esp. if the In point is late in the clip, it could have significant leadtime issues.

As long as setting/altering I/O points in a Footage window doesn’t affect existing clips already placed in comps, I’m good to go.

    THANKS!!!

  • Done.

Wish I’d copied it before I submitted: it was a compositional jewel.
