  • Keep in mind the AV drives are really more marketing than anything else. There will be absolutely no difference between those and the Barracuda series for single drive archiving. USB3 Docking stations with standard internal drives give the easiest archive workflow to deal with provided the archive system/software used is correct. There is more micromanagement with this system cataloging and such but it is probably the cheapest drive solution. Don’t forget to spin the drives up every 4 to 6 months. 1 year would really be pushing it. That rotation needs to be part of your cataloging. As far as drive storage, this would be a good site to start with:

HDD’s as stated by another poster above have failure rates that reflect their cost. Keep that in mind.

As a general rule don’t use Variable spin rate or lower rpm drives for media. The latency on mechanical drives is already much higher than SSD’s and high PWM drives add to that. Green drives are meant for archive or sample storage and that is about it. I would suggest making the raid 0 out of the 2 Black drives for now and move to an SSD media drive when you are working with raw. The Crucial 960GB drives are really inexpensive for size at release. Testing with 4x 960GB on a Intel mid level SAS controller gives 1.8GB/s to 3GB/s depending on the file sizes.

9.7.5 only lists MC6 support. Did you uninstall and install the 9.7.5 after you installed MC7?

What OS is this on? Are you recording to an internal or external drive?

I have seen this issue when AC3 filter could not decode correctly as well but not with uncompressed Wave files.

Where are your media cache directories located? What happens if you import the files into AE or Prelude?
