I would really suggest looking at SSD drives. Crucial has 960GB drives that are really cheap for the size. Use the 4TB drive as storage and SSD’s as work drives. The other option would be getting another 4TB drive and raid 0 that. Just keep the raw media and database backed up.

You will exceed the system ram well before the 3GB GPU ram with that media as well as those CPU’s will limit the acceleration performance before exceeding the card processing ceiling. The 780GTX would be more than enough for the current Mac Pro system and processing performance. I would suggest maybe looking at 24GB of ram for the system with the GPU upgrade if you are going to do it. No the Quadros wont provide better performance for GPU processing and will actually lower performance. Only get the Quadro if you will use a Geforce card for the processing which means a 2nd PSU most likely.

Where CUDA was developed first before Open CL and has far more memory management refinement time, Cuda performance is better and often far less buggy. I would not suggest any ATI over the Titan for GPU acceleration.

I have spoke to Blackmagic before regarding audio distortion issues in the past and the techs told me the Blackmagic cards use the Audio interface for the DSP processing. If you are getting distortion, it very well may be the audio interface causing it. I am not sure if the DSP processing handoff is specific to certain cards or all of them. So I always start with that. This would not be the first time Realtek’s driver showed this issue.

Did you include the render and media cache files when you created the new project copying files with Project Manager?

I have yet to find any whitepaper or information that does not state the controller is not translating instructions from the processor or OS/application. If you have references otherwise please link them. BTW a Raid Controller wont Mount the Raid volume without a OS kernel?

“When you enable journaling on a disk, a continuous record of changes to files on the disk is maintained in the journal. If your computer stops because of a power failure or some other issue, the journal is used to restore the disk to a known-good state when the server restarts.”
Notice the Restore in this part? File system integrity data is not just used for verification. It’s also used to restore data that is incomplete or corrupted on the drive. Hence what I stated. And yes there have been meta data issues with the Journaling especially on the Windows platform with Mac Drive because the application is not communicating with the drive directly. It is through the hardware controller. That translation of Volume to block data has to go through that process and that is where the problems happen. Verified here with turning Jounaling off and has often been recommended for Mac based formatted drives used for processing work and not archive.
BTW if the controller cannot recognize the volume table or data it wont initialize and mount the disks which is what this issue is pointing to.

Also what Realtek driver are you running? If your not sure then try this one:
Select the 2nd option Win 7 64bit.

Try using the Project Manager and create a new Project with assets copied over. Then open the new project with CS6 and see if it will open.
