Trying to Rebuild the Array from the other drives should not change the status of the other drives nor should it change any data on those drives which can still be block copied later. The idea here is simple. Get the array online long enough to get the critical data off. A failing drive normally has a limited lifespan before total failure so the window is short. Trying other fixes before dealing with the data is wasting that limited time and forcing the issue to be very expensive data recovery. You can contact me directly via email if you can get another drive and have time for me to remote in and check the Atto panel. There still may be a chance here but I can guarantee you the clock is ticking if so.

You want atleast an OS/Programs drive and a media drive. This is the same whether you go PC or Mac. Whether a single media drive, raid, or SSD is required for the media is based on the codec of media you will be dealing with. The overall system configuration should be based on your workflow. Buying a fast HDD without the correct CPU or amount of ram will not give you the editing experience you expect. You need to balance the system.

Why are you buying an I7 Gen 1 system? That is 4 years old at this point. The current build for the platform is Ivy-E X79 series. Please look for a x79 board or such as the P9X79 Pro and a 4930K. Or go to the Desktop Z87 Platform with a 4770. The 650Ti will work fine with either of those and Avid. I would suggest atleast 16GB of ram on either of those while 32 on the X79 would be ideal.

You will have to contact Blackmagic on that. There shouldn’t be any reason that Aja’s installer is removing the Blackmagic Player codecs. They should look at that.

Media Express allows more than 1 instance but you have to launch it again each time by creating separate exe files for Media Express if I remember it correctly. Go into the Blackmagic folder and just rename the first EXE. Then copy and name the next 1 differently. I normally just named them 1 2 3 and so on. It’s a little fuzzy because I havnt done it in a while but I believe that is how it’s done. If not just call BM support and they will tell you.

The performance difference is based on the media used. Red will push the GPU’s far more than AVCHD or DSLR. A Titan for example will be barely used at all with H264 media but makes a huge difference with Red. I would really suggest the 680GTX since your running 4K Red. Remember the ram space per frame on 4K media is far greater than 1080.

That has to do with the install of the 3rd party players/software. Blackmagic use to show up there and I am surprised it’s not for you. However Transmit removed the need to use Blackmagic sequence settings to initialize the card so they may have removed that. Media Encoder just requires plugin files for the codecs to show up there and most of the installers do that for the 3rd party players now that support Adobe. Are you on Mac or PC btw?

Yes you needed to replace that drive so that raid would have rebuilt from Degraded state. Now if another drive has completely failed the data would be lost. You need to do that and then see if the other drive acting up will come back online long enough to get the first 1 rebuilt.

When you say left it out of the system, did you replace that drive then?
