You can setup the DVI and HDMI display’s as mirror to duplicate the output The problem is the resolution has to be the same. That would limit your resolution options off the HDMI port on the Titan card if you went DVI and HDMI. However if your Titan card has a Displayport then you can run Displayport and HDMI at 4K. You just need to get a 4K display. The Blackmagic 4K Extreme should handle 4K on the HDMI input but I have not verified that with Blackmagic. You would want to call and ask their support. The SDI would but then you would have to get a HDMI to SDI converter. The best option may be to output the DVI-D and get a DVI to SDI converter. However the software on the capture system would have to recognize the 2.5K resolution. Have you looked at getting a 4K screen and trying screen capture software off that?

What driver version did you install for the Blackmagic card? There should have been a firmware update if you downloaded the latest.

The 4930K or 4960X would be the ideal configuration point to start with since that is on the X79 platform ie workstation and not the desktop platform. The X79 has 6 Core up to 12 Core Xeon options if you get the X79 board with Xeon Microcode like the Asrock Extreme 9 or Asus WS board. That also gives a ram ceiling of 64GB instead of 32GB on the 4770 Z87 platform. So upgradability in the future is far greater on the X79. I currently run a E5 2697 V2 12 Core on the Asrock X79 board. That easily handles R3D 4K at half resolution playback. It also threads out across all 24 threads in AE making the performance close to a Dual Xeon without the price tag.

There is a great performance increase between the 2 CPU’s you are comparing which would have a large impact on AE performance. The current system you have is I7 Gen 1. The 4770 is I7 Gen 4. The performance difference both with CPU processing and Ram Bandwidth is considerable likely well over 50%. A SSD drive and video card would also perform far better on the Haswell systemboard ie Z87 board. I would highly suggest you get the new system setup versus spending any real money on upgrading that old of a system. The return on investment would be very low with upgrading a 4 year old system especially for AE work. AE can easily exceed even a current Haswell system with regards to CPU processing. Any less of a configuration and the user experience starts to degrade.

Yes the 4910MQ would be worth the money with AE due to the cache.

If the OS is on a 480GB drive would be better but a 256GB would probably do it.

You can change out to the 750Ti later easy enough just by replacing the video card. However to change to an Intel CPU would require a new system board as well besides the CPU later. You would also have to re-install the OS most likely.

I would suggest an Intel Chip over an AMD unless it’s out of the budget and also a 750Ti over the 640 because of Premiere and Blender.

Lagarith is definitely 1 option I would suggest. Another is Cineform. Lagarith will be more file size friendly if required.
