Basically, you can’t even compare the two. SB is a toy next to AA. HOWEVER, that toy might be all you need! Try out SB and see what you think…If you find that you’re missing things from AA1.0, then consider upgrading. If SB works for your needs, stick with it!

There is NO difference in sound quality…It’s just differences in options.

There’s a tutorial for this at the official Audition forum on Adobe.com.

January 6, 2009 at 10:06 pm in reply to: Will Adobe offer a CS4 version of Audition

Audition 3.0 and newer are not a part of the Creative Suite. If you want Audition, you must purchase it separately. However, if you have an earlier copy, you can upgrade to 3.0 (now 3.01) for $99. Adobe did this because trying to integrate it into CS was harmful to the development of the program. Being a part of CS is the reason Audition 2.0 is such a piece of garbage. Most CS users have no need for a product as full-featured as Audition, thus Soundbooth was created with the intent of basic audio editing for video users.

Waves presets are stored in their own file that has nothing to do with Audition. Try removing and replacing your ilok. Waves tech support is good too and shouldn’t be ignored. What bundle and version are you running? How old is your ilok?

You can’t use them. They are proprietary.

Stop mixing down to mp3…Mp3 sounds awful. Always save a copy of a PCM wav.

If you’re having problems with Windows Media Player, you’re not alone…It has issues. I suggest Winamp.

    1. Audition uses uncompressed PCM while working. IT’s hard to give a real estimation, but for a typical mp3 file, Audition will need about 10 times the space.

    2. Audition has a scripting function. The help file will give you more info.

There are a number of third-party plug-ins that will do this. And Soundbooth has a utility as well. You may need to run some noise reduction.
