the CalDigit VR for 2TB is around $700, so I’m certain that the total price would be less than $1k.

Also it compares really favorably to the g-tech brand machines, the speeds are fantastic, the RAID options it offers (both 0 and 1) are more than other brands, and basically is all-around a machine built to LAST, rather than to be disposable.
