June 1, 2007 at 5:33 pm in reply to: how do i use particle illusion with widescreen footageFrom the FAQ:
“particleIllusion can only render what is on screen, so the stage window must be 640×480 to render out a file at 640×480. You’ll need to resize the stage window until it is large enough to show the entire stage area, which you can do by clicking and dragging the dividers between the windows. In particleIllusion 3.0 you can use the ‘Load Layout’ function (from the ‘View’ menu) or the Alt-3 (Cmd-3 on Mac) shortcut to maximize the stage window.”If your screen won’t fit the full clip at 1024×576, then open the project in pIllusionRender and render it there.

No, there’s no automatic way to do this at the moment. You’d have to Zoom up the emitters and redo any position animation.
I have a tutorial here about scaling up emitters to various resolutions, might help you out, though it’s more for full screen emitters than for scenes.

You can open your project file in pIllusionRender, the stand alone rendering application, and render it out to full size. It’s in the same folder as the particleIllusion program, just run it, load the file, and go through the render options the way you would within pI.

Yup Shaun, you’re absolutely right. If it ever doesn’t run, go for that option.

The one on the main page is in the default library (named Drips). There’s a similar one in the January 2004 library.

If you right-click on an emitter in the Hierarchy window, you can choose Import>Position Data from the menu and bring data in. After Effects import is handled natively (if you’re on PC and using AE 7 for tracking, you’ll need to do a tiny workaround to get the data in, there’s a tutorial on the wondertouch site). On the wondertouch site under Downloads>Other, you can find a series of scripts and plugins for most 3D programs and Digital Fusion to export data to pI (import it as ‘tab-delimitted text’).

Two things to check-
In pI, go into the Project Settings and make sure the Frame Rate matches whatever your frame rate is in iMovie (it’ll likely be 30, which is pI’s default)When saving your finished Quicktime out of pI, what Compression Type are you using? Your best bet for the highest quality is to set the compressor to None.

May 15, 2007 at 8:27 pm in reply to: Hellllllllllllp =( Asap! I Need to know how to Camera move ZOOM1) You can use some of the “Brightness Effects” emitters from the May 2001 library to do fades. You may have to do some fiddling with the timing Visibility graph, but the effects are there. As for panning and moving a background, there’s just no way to do it in pI, unless you bring the image in as a particle shape and use it as a single particle emitter.
2) Animating the Zoom graph will increase the size of the entire emitter. It it’s an area emitter or circle/ellipse, you’ll have to animate the width-height or radius graphs as well. That will zoom the particles, but it won’t zoom your background. You’d have to do that in an editing or compositing program.
