    Hey Scott,

Thanks for all the info! I just tried your code, but am still getting the position jump. Can’t figure it out… I must be doing something wrong.

    (with checkmark off)

I’ll keep playing around with it though. I really do appreciate your time!

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your response, Scott!

That seems very interesting. However, I may be doing something wrong– what is this variable for?
    I = thisComp.layer(“[Anchor]”).text.sourceText.toLowerCase();

Do you add an additional layer named anchor?

The anchor position swapping works great, but I’m still having the problem of the line jumping when I use the checkbox.

Thanks again, I’m trying to get a better grasp of this.

    Hey,

I don’t have experience with Alexa footage, but a couple of questions just to check…

-Are you sure you don’t have any effects applied to the source clip in the bin?
-Some cameras have the ability to change LUTS from the Edit Original option in the bin–have you tried clicking that to see what options it gives you?

October 21, 2015 at 6:18 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro Crash – How to begin debugging

I’m in the same boat, but as far as possible solutions, I’ve encountered:

    – Uncheck “Sum multichannel outputs to Mono in Source Monitor” and “Maintain pitch while shuttling” to solve the source monitor scrubbing crash.

    – Yesterday, on my post, Kevin responded about using OpenCL instead of CUDA if you have it, and trying to check your permissions folders. Also, basically not having any other program open. The thread here:
    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/970837

    – I’ve heard that if you’re starting a project on another computer and switching it over, instead of just opening it, you should start a new project and import it.

Other than those, I’m still searching for a way to make it more stable. I’ve been crashing three or four times a day. Pretty frustrating.

Strange stuff. I’ve noticed similar quirks before, but usually only when switching user workspace settings– it would then randomly change the opened sequences.

Glad it’s fixed for you though, I haven’t had it happen much lately either.

I don’t know of a way of doing that, other than converting the file to stereo in Encoder (or an audio editing app) before bringing it to Premiere…

    Thanks, Kevin!

I did come across that permissions fix while researching this problem, but sadly to say, it didn’t correct it!

Thank you for the OpenCL tip, I’ll have to run with that from now on. Also, I didn’t know about Chrome being problematic–as Chrome and Premiere are typically the only two apps I have open (whoops!).

As for the codecs and file type, producers tend to hand me rough cuts to finalize with out much time to transcode anything… So I may have to come back to that problem, if I really can’t keep Premiere open.

    Thanks again.

Go to Preferences > Audio and check the “Default Audio Tracks” settings. Make sure that “Stereo Media” is set to “Use File” or “Stereo”.

Some files do come in differently than expected, and that is unfortunate, but other than changing those “Default Audio Tracks” settings, doing it your Modify Audio Channels method isn’t too terrible…

    Hope that helps.

  • That will really come in handy for other things, I’m sure, but I feel bad as I’ve done a bad job explaining in full… so sorry to waste your time…

I’ve simplified the situation. I’m actually trying to project an image onto a set of puzzle pieces. So, I’ve got about 20 Solids, with their Compound Arithmetics layer set to the Image1 (which has its visibility shut off). The solids are also set as an AlphaMatte to cut out the 20 puzzle pieces.

I wanted to be able to use a control layer so that I could add more Images to the comp and easily change out what appeared on the puzzle.

Once again, thanks for all your help–sorry that I didn’t elaborate!

  • Thanks for the response! It’s really too bad that you can’t layer controls, it’d be so much easier. That sounds like a solid idea, but I’m not skilled enough to pull that off–otherwise, I’m sure I would give it a go, ha.

I think I’ll instead precompose the Image1 layer and then just switch it out from inside it’s new comp, since I’m not smart enough to learn script writing.
