  • Thanks Eric, I’d looked at the MixPre series before for another setup but it’s not really what I had in mind here ergonomically.

I’d considered something similar for this (a Zoom F8) with the F-Control unit but it seemed a bit convoluted to have two devices. I’d be able to fit the F-Control where I want it but would need to put the F8 in my camera case which seemed a few steps of prep and set up too many. I guess I’ll just wait for Zoom to come out with the LiveTrak L-8 or something : )

  • Hi Jeff,

Thanks so much for such a detailed response. Really appreciated.

Oddly, this week I’ve managed to replicate the scenario (with the exception of not using the clients display to hdmi converter) and didn’t have run into the problem. In fact the footage looks pretty good especially on the higher bitrate ProRes files. I’m planning to experiment with h264 after the 6.0 firmware update on the HyperDeck.

Still, I’ll definitely check out the options you offered – that EzRecorder seems like a very useful thing to have in the kit bag.

    Thanks again,
    Ed

Very glad to find this after suffering the same problem and thinking I was crazy / OR that my camera was faulty. (Thankfully I checked the footage in VLC and figured it must be a Premiere issue before having Canon techs tell me that it was end-user-idiocy).
