  • Vic,

Welcome to vegas! Congrats on your first production.

Assuming you have not rendered the project yet, here’s what I do: First, save a copy of your entire project and title it ending in Disc 1 or D1 as this copy will serve as the first half. Seek out a good logical half way point and delete the rest of the project knowing that the original will serve as ‘part 2’ and is not lost. I usually put text saying ‘continued on Disc 2’ etc.

Then you can return to the file you originally copied and even rename it Disc 2 or D2. Here you simply delete the first half so it begins neatly where the other D1 left off, effectively creating two separate halves.

Here’s another advantage to this… you now have lots of extra space on each 4.7 gb dics to accomodate menus, additional shorts, blooper reels, etc. I assume you received Sony Architect 4.5 or higher with your Vegas? I create an entirely separte short project with titles and music as a menu screen. The learning curve is a little steep at first, but certainly worth it, and it adds a professional touch to your production. You tube is incredible for tutorials on different things.

REMEMBER! Make sure you have both halves saved before deleting stuff, or you’ll be crying bro.

    Cheers!
    Eddie

Hmm… can I eventually expect a patch from Sony. I’m sure Pro 10 had it’s bugs patched in the beginning. I don’t own 10 so I’d have to go back to the very limited home version. Plus what about the $400.00 to $799.95 you spent getting the program that you don’t use anymore. Sony has to have some responsibility here right? I would love to hear all comments regarding that subject. Not smiling! Eddie

New to this site, but not new to editing. Took the plunge from SVMS9 to Sony Vegas Pro 11. Lotta audio problems, crashes, and the aforementioned keyframe issues. Specifically, I keyframe some aspect of video and the keyframes all crunch in tight to the begining of the first keyframe so that they play out within a 10th of a second instead of over 20 seconds. Keep re-doing it and it persists in its error. I will let Sony know and jump on that band wagon. Please inform me of the best way to accomplish that. The potential is great but the ptogram is frustrating because of errors.
