  • Assuming you are using V9 Resolve, you can go into the Resolve Preferences window, select the Advanced area, and add this line to disable the Red Rocket card:

    Red.Rocket.Enable = 0

Save the preferences, and restart Resolve.

After you restart Resolve, you can check in Resolve Preferences / System Overview to verify the Red Rocket is not being used.

To re-enable the Red Rocket card, either remove the line above from the Preferences Advanced area, save Preferences and restart Resolve, or add a # at the front of the line above, and save Preferences and restart Resolve.

A MacPro model 3,1 has poor performance. You mention 6 nodes. What happens if you only have one node or no nodes? Does the footage play back in real time then?

You don’t want to have any WFM displays up on this system.

You do want the Project Settings / Master Project Settings / Video Monitoring Video Bit Depth selection set to 8 bit, and the “Use optimized display mode during playback” setting enabled.

As Peter mentioned, you want the Project Settings / Image Scaling / Image Scaling “When resizing and scaling” setting on “Use Bilinear filter”.

You mentioned you are using SD footage. What timeline resolution are you using?

With all the things above, I would expect you should be able to get real time with an SD clip in an SD timeline with a handful of basic nodes. If you are using an HD timeline, maybe only 3 or 4 nodes. Depends on whats in the nodes. You are not going to get much blur, or curve windows in realtime. And probably no NR in realtime.

Then unless you explicitly created a new database when you installed V9, you are almost certainly using a PostgreSQL database. All the Resolve project and user info are stored in hidden, non-accessible, non-user manipulate-able files. The proper way to move the PostgreSQL database, is to use the Resolve Database Manager, accessed at the Resolve user login screen, and BACKUP the database. You can then take the single (probably large) file that creates, and RESTORE it into another Resolve, or newly installed Resolve instance on a new hard drive, or whatever.

I don’t really understand from your original post what sort of condition your system is in, as I’m not sure what “fell off the system” means. Do you have the ability to run Resolve and do a database backup? Or do you have a database backup you’ve previously done? Are you trying to move the Resolve database info onto a new hard drive or system?

What version of Resolve are you using? If version 9, was there EVER ANY version 8 Resolve on your system?

It depends on which version of Resolve you are using, and if V9, which database format you are using.

Interesting, I didn’t realize NVIDIA had released any 10.8 related drivers. Anyone have any idea what these do better than the stock ML driver?

That being said, and looking at the NVIDIA Driver Download site now, I see the 10.8.1 driver is gone, and has been replaced with a 10.8.2 driver (304.00.05f02). So give that one a try.

Any time NVIDIA posts an OS X specific driver, I would expect that to work with most of their cards, and would expect it’s probably a safe thing to try. Maybe…

Are you using Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and the 5.0.36 CUDA driver?

October 10, 2012 at 11:57 pm in reply to: Is there a shortcut for adding a Flag?

Barrie, I’ve just done a test of this. To be honest, I’m not sure why it’s doing that. Basically, it seems to be because there is only one source clip in the Master timeline. But just like using the “Copy Remote Grades to Local” function breaks the links between the conformed timeline clips so you can individually correct them, I would expect the Flags to follow that behavior, but it doesn’t seem to. Perhaps someone else can chime in on why this is.

But A solution for you, would be to use the Media page Split and Add function. Right click on your clip in the Library area of the Media page, and select the Split and Add menu. Then select the EDL you made with the Scene Detector. This will split the single clip into multiple clips in the Media Pool, and now the flags will work on the individual clips, as desired. I’m not sure this is the best or only solution, but it seems to be a workable solution.

Since there are 9 different Flag selections, it would be a hard thing to make a shortcut for.

You said the previous question would be your last question… 🙂

I might suggest the aforementioned Gen 1 8800GT card. I’m not aware of any other cards that would work. That’s not to say there are not any such cards. Apparently a GTX-285 with a netkas BIOS on a hacked EFI64 64 bit 1,1 system will work.

And I’ll mention a last time that this is not a supported system, so I can’t offer any better guidance on how to make it work.
