I tried importing the “_External” event onto my ‘internal’ drive, to bring over the logging work, but that resulted in ‘missing files’ for everything, so right now I have ‘missing files’ on both the Internal and External versions of the Event in my Library on the internal drive. I have the event working on the External drive, but if I try to edit footage form that into my sequence, I get the same Missing Files thing in the timeline.

My questions is….what is the easiest way to be working on a Project on my Edit Bay machine, then be able to do work on a Laptop with an external drive and a duplicate version of the Library, and merge the work back together on the main Edit Machine. There is no way something so simple could be this much of a pain in the neck.

Yeah, everything needed for the Event is bundled up within the folder.

    I’m on 10.1

My source footage is 5D footage, with Optimized and Proxy media created.

I’m also just now trying to edit a Multicam Clip from my External Drive, onto a Sequence that is home on my Internal drive. I get a warning that says I’m editing between Libraries and it’s going to copy the file. I say OK, and that clip says ‘File Missing’ in the browser, even though I just watched it, but it’s playing back from my External Drive.

Both Events are managed, all of the media is inside the Folder Structure that FCPX builds. One is an exact duplicate of the event, on an external drive, just with “_EXTERAL” appended on the end of them name.

The work that I’m trying to export is from the “_EXTERNAL” event, and when imported into my “INTERNAL” drive, all of the media is missing. I’ve also trying choosing Consolidate Event, and it says all the media is there, there is no need to consolidate, but yet the files remain missing.

and when I imported the Event XML, all of those files have the same “Missing Files” warning, and won’t allow me to relink as well.

It’s not allowing me to relink files that are offline. When I select the files and choose Relink Media, no files show up in the list dialogue that pops up, and it doesn’t give me the ability to click on anything. I know all the files are offline because in the viewer there is a big red Missing File image.

Are you meaning just click up in the event browser in the general area of the range? Yeah, that’s the best I could figure out to do. Hard to do when it’s a long clip and your range is tiny. Sort of negates the whole function of doing a match frame.

To follow this up, I discovered that I fumble fingered the Ctrl-F hotkey for show Favorites, and hit just F which just overwrote a brand new favorite across everything. My bad.

    FOLLOW UP

Was able to use the function to have all the clips resynchronize via the audio again…phewwww. Still, UNDO should UNDO one would think…
