  • So…..is the answer that you can’t anymore? I don’t see anything on that page about copying the Referenced Events. Again, I don’t want to consolidate any media, because I want everything organized EXACTLY like I already have it which took a bunch of time… I don’t want all my clips now just thrown into one big consolidated library.

  • Before you suggested this, I opened another Library, closed the one that was all offline, and then reopened it and it reconnected to things…

Do the render files in those folders tend to mess things up?

What I’m wondering is, why are things coming offline so easily? What is the mechanism that keeps getting confused to cause this?

Also, is there a clean and smooth way to get all of my files to point back to my big “Footage” folder that exists outside of my FCPX library, and have the Events themselves only contain the transcoded footage and the Proxies?

In reality, I don’t even actually ‘need’ the original media in my project at all, because the Transcoded Prores is my High Res, and the Proxy is for editing. I just want to maintain the original H264 ‘negative’ for the camera just for safety.

Perhaps things have changed, but i seem to remember trying this before, and even though the Transcoded media and the Proxy media was included, since the ‘Original Media’ was not included it still showed that things were offline.

That is what lead me to consolidating many of my events so that everything resided within it, because I was tired of trying to copy an event onto my laptop and be traveling and try to edit only to discover that tons of things were offline — Though now I’ve got a ton of redundant data and things are a mess.

  • Yeah it plays in Quicktime.

  • I tried to manually relink the files (annoying that I would have to do that, and do the step of dragging a link to the folder out of the Library) — and the Relink dialogue just hung trying to relink the files. It didn’t relink anything and it just sat there like this.

What in the world is going on with this. This is full day number 3 of not being able to work. This is outrageously ridiculous.

  • Every shoot day is sort of its own encapsulated world. Put it this way. There is far too much media, separate system audio, multicam clips, etc to not break it up into respective worlds. For this project, this is the way to go. It’s just the delinking that I’m having issue with.

  • It’s all one project. Due to the nature of the Project, it’s the easiest way to manage the locations of all the material.

I used Event Manager to update the project.

What I find to be strange is that this was all working before the SSD upgrade, but something about that freaked it all out. Not sure what, it’s a fresh install of only the OS and FCPX.

  • Actually, plugin is uninstalled and Project still just Beachballed….So, have to force quit either way..

Is there any kind of “rebuild” project thing or anything?

    Screenshot attached.

  • Uninstall Effects and I can get in timeline, but with Missing Effect image. Install the effect and the image is back, but the Project Beachballs…

  • The issue seems to be partially related to CoreMelt Lock & Load. Not sure what it was, but from having restarted and opening and closing the app a bunch of times, some things relinked, and I installed Lock & Load again and it took away the Red Missing Icon, which seemed to be related to a ‘missing effect’ warning, but now I’m back not being able to get into my project. as soon as I click in the timeline, the little Render Circle starts to spin grey, and then the whole thing Beachballs and I have to Force Quit..

  • I tried loading the library from the backup and it is doing all of the same things.

The project was started in 10.09, but have been using in 10.1 the past few days. Has been working, save for not being able to figure out how to relink things.
