Yeah, somehow after I responded I ended up in the FCP X forum! You must be a magician! 😉
Well, for a very short period I shot in ProRes HQ when I owned a Ninja 2, but it was very incompatible with my then D5500. It worked but it was a major pain to use so I sold it. So back to 24 MB h264, until I got the G7, so now I shoot 100 MB 4K, and transcode to DNxHD. But, for what I do I may as well be using the Crayola codec 😉

How odd. Everyone who ever answers my questions is nowhere to be found. I don’t recognize one name here. Anyway.
I eat what I shoot.
I use a Panasonic G7 (The GH4 for poor people!)
I make up stuff in my head, put up the green screen, and have at it. With the assistance of my handicapped son.
I use the Adobe collection on a pitifully under powered PC.

I’m currently not getting banding because I’m not including a large part of the sky in my shots. I’ll have to do an experiment. I’ve mostly shot indoor green screen with the new camera so far. Never had a problem with hue angle dots 😉
But basically you answered my question in your second paragraph. I always manually white balance with my trusty 18% gray card but I’m enjoying this new feature of adjusting the Kelvin. Since, as I said, I get it to where it should be, then tweak it to taste, I had the question about whether I should be tweaking or not.

Come on, Chris, you know I’m dealing with h264, albeit a more vibrant version now. So I can’t really “fix it in post”. I mean, yeah, I can make whites look white, but that’s not gonna gain back color information I’m losing by not shooting with correct white balance, right?

I keep forgetting how to edit my own posts here. I wanted to add, take the one video clip and cut it into 3, this way the arm movements won’t all match. Or shoot 3 clips, whichever is easier for you.

Well, I don’t know how much movement will be involved with your cake monster, but what I would do is shoot about a minute of myself waving my arms about, make 3 copies (for 6 arms), lay them one on top of another and slide the two copies down so that you can see all six arms, then put my slice of cake over the body. Serve with coffee and other party treats 😉

Yes. Although the probability is unlikely, the possibility exists. See attached photo. I have an adjustment layer, one of many video clips, and the audio track selected, but the blue outline is on my Program panel. However, if I right click on the clips I don’t get a grayed out menu, which is your actual problem, so I’m stumped, but then again, I’m definitely not the final source of wisdom. I’m sure someone will figure it out for you.
