This may not work but you could give it a shot in the meantime. In the scoreboard clip, which I imagine you put on top of the main action clip, try using an alpha channel on it. It could be the black is coming from that clip since the black area is not transparent. Do you know how to use alpha channels in Resolve? There are plenty of tutorials. I don’t think you need to use the Fusion way of doing it.

If I remember correctly off hand, right click in the area where the nodes are and choose “Add Alpha Channel”. Then connect the blue square from the node to the blue square that you just created, which is under the green square.

    Hope that works for ya!

  • No, definitely nothing like that. And I’m not touching the audio track. I’m only doing something innocuous like adding a node and adjusting the Hue vs. Sat curve. Deleting that node doesn’t fix the problem either. Once it starts doing it, I have to do that whole “replace clip” thing I mentioned.

Sorry, I don’t think your PC has the specs to handle Resolve. Windows 7? 32 bit? This is a 64 bit software for starters.

version 15.1 has had two updates in recent days to solve a few bugs like getting stuck on “control panels” in the splash screen. I think the flickering was another problem. Did you update to the third of the updates, v. 15.1025?

Right. I’m better off just shooting at 30p. Thanks Tero.

Well, anyway, I tried all the recommended settings. It’s smoother now but it still looks like 60p so my next question, and I’m really looking for your opinion, not a set rule, but if I want a 24p look am I better off just shooting in 24p? I don’t see any difference quality wise. The only reason I even attempted this is, I get the best AF results shooting in 30 (29.976) fps (remember, I’m a one man band, so I have to use AF) so if I could get a satisfactory result by comforming it to 24p that would be great. Otherwise, I’ll have to settle for shooting my backyard masterpieces in 30p and living with it.

Thanks, Tero but that’s for slo-mo/fast-mo, not conforming 30 or 60p to 24p. But I’ll try the other options. Nearest doesn’t do the trick. I will report back, meine kapitan!

Yeah, I know, but it’s good enough for what I do. Still don’t get the difference between the two. I always change the defaults on Custom, and it always goes back to the defaults when I re-open Resolve. Same with the Master the two times I tried it, it just goes back to the defaults. It’s like it’s two of the same presets with different names. Oh well, thanks as usual for your help, Tero. Cheers!
