I just did it with a .jpg. What file type are you trying to place? Resolve is weird sometimes with file types.

  • WOW! That sucks. Big time. I’m sorry no one here was able to help. I suggested you post here.

Oh yeah, that makes me feel waaaaay better!!! ????
There’s one guy who actually asked me to sell them to him, he liked the look, so I bundled them up and put them on zippyshare, but that link is now dead, and he never thanked me so he probably didn’t download them, in fact that was the only post he ever put up here.

Anyway, thanks for cheering me up, Marc! ☺

My PC (specs below) is more than enough for what I do. Also, I had just created the new project I mentioned above where everything was working fine, and yet another glitch appeared. Right in the middle of working on the first timeline, my OFX window disappeared and wouldn’t return no matter how many times I clicked on the button. Once again I had to create a new project. Just another FYI.

Anyway, thanks again for responding. It appears Tero has tired of me 😉

Hey Michael, thanks for responding! No, I’ve discovered an odd glitch in Resolve that may explain others “one off” problems.

Whenever a project gets too heavy with timelines and files, I will “save as…” the project with a new name, then delete all the previous timelines except 2 or 3, this way I don’t have to bother with reloading galleries and stuff. Sometimes, as in this case, the new project gets corrupted straight away, and this latest glitch was the result. When I created another new project after posting this, again, and followed my same steps, everything started working again. I’ve had this happen once before, where the info window on the bottom right in the color page showed my clips as being 8 bit when, in fact, they were 10 bit. Creating a new project fixed that as well.

Anyway, again, thanks for your input! And just as a reminder, I’m an amateur who does this for fun, so I don’t need to follow professional guidelines for organizing my projects ????

    Cheers!

  • Yes, but if you install the control panel software without having control panels, you’ll get the problem you’re having. For some reason I installed control panels back in v. 14 even though I don’t have control panels, and it’s never given me a problem.

  • Uninstall it, then re-install and this time uncheck “Install Control Panels”, something like that.

  • I had a similar problem recently where my stills were nothing but green and orange lines, all messed up. When I scrubbed them they would change to scenes from the clip, but when applied to a clip, the clip would look the same, green and orange lines. When I opened previous timelines, I could make stills just fine. And since then, stills have worked just fine, it was only that timeline and those clips, so it must have something to do with the clip itself having corrupt information, I’m guessing.

Try loading a clean version of one of your clips, don’t do anything to it, and try grabbing a still and see what happens. This way you’ll know if it’s the clip, or if it’s being caused by whatever grading you’ve done to it.

360p, 240p and 144p. If that’s still too heavy for your client I suggest you make sure he can pay you before you do any more work for him 😉
