Ok everyone, I found the correct page and wanted to share it. I was able to download both the viewer and the plug-in. Both work perfectly.

BTW, I’ve checked out Sony’s page at:
https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=394827
However, when you click on the link it takes you to a page where you need to contact Sony Technical Support for the upgrade? Do they charge for a simple firmware upgrade? There are tons of editing studios that get footage from Sony Cameras that don’t own the exact camera. Is Sony charging just to get AMA functionality?
I don’t have any firmware currently installed for the Avid, so I’m starting at square one. I’m going to call Sony tomorrow to follow up on this, but I had hoped to DL the files so I could start capturing tonight…

I’m in the United States and it doesn’t have a drop down in the “country” window to select the US. Do you happen to know of a link for US citizens?

Personally I prefer Sorenson for FLV’s. You get the option of using their “spark” codec as well and they have a lot of great presets. You do have to pay a good coin for the app, but you can also just buy the flv plug-in if that’s all you need.

Ok, I’ve now read that Premiere doesn’t have the same ProRes Codec as FCP for alpha support. I’ve tried using the animation codec, png, and none as part of quicktime at 32 bit. I do get an alpha exported but now it has jaggies all around the speaker. I don’t see the jaggies in my preview window in Premiere though. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to improve this I’m open to them…

Just did some additional renders. The text does look a bit better now upon export, but still looks terrible in the preview window. (*Obviously the export is all I care about.)
This was my first time trying Premiere after using FCP for about 10 years. To be honest, I like FCP better, but I thought I would test the waters after all of the new changes in FCP X.

I’ve done everything everyone has mentioned and the text still looks awful. What I’ve found is that when I first drop the graphic down onto the timeline it looks great in the preview window. After I hit return and let the graphic render it looks like crap. For some reason the renderer is reducing the quality of the graphic.
Any idea how I can fix this? I have all of my settings at maximum render quality and maximum depth and it still looks terrible after render….

Ok, I saw on another post that the default settings for Premier aren’t exactly great. Quick question. Is there a way to change your project settings after you’ve completed the project? Would I need to redigitize the footage or is there a way for Premiere to de-interlace the footage that it already captured?
I’m really thinking the interlacing is the issue at this point.

I increased the render settings to maximum and the text still looks the same. Where would I change the interlace settings you are speaking of? Is that a project setting or a sequence settings?

The key I had shot is excellent. I was still getting jaggies in FCP Studio though. When I brought the same footage into Premiere it keyed out perfectly.
I’m glad to hear the keyer has been upgraded in X. That may be a big enough reason on its own for me to jump into X. I know there has been a lot of negative talk about X, and I’m sorry to hear it won’t open FCP Studio files, but the rest of the interface, and the work it does behind the scenes looks pretty promising to me.
