    It’s worth noting that only root-level 2D groups will ignore camera transforms. 2D groups nested inside 3D groups will obey the transforms.

    Motion does almost all its processing on the GPU, not the CPU, so that’s why you’re not seeing a lot of CPU activity.

    The person rapping might have been keyed, or could just be against a even background. Threshold has been applied, then the result was colorized and blended in with the background comp. Nothing vectorized.

    Motion has a few different displacement filters, each with strengths and weaknesses. Have you checked out Displace and Indent? I don’t see anything in the Meyers’ tutorial that can’t be done in Motion.

    Howdy,

    Two ways to break the tangents: option+drag a handle or right-click on a handle and choose “Break Handle” from the menu.

    Once you break the handles, they will stay broken (independent). If you right-click on a broken handle, you can re-lock the handles (without realigning) or realign them. Cmd+dragging out new handles on a point also resets the alignment and lock.

    What you want to do is use a particle emitter. Apply the Match Move behavior to the emitter and tell the Match Move to use the tracking data from the Analyze Motion behavior that you’ve already done your tracking in. If you set the Speed value for the emitter to zero, the particles will sit still as the emitter drops them, creating a line effect.

    Illustrator files are imported as a merged PDF. It’s all vector data, so it can be dynamically rasterized, but it’s merged, so no layers.

    Howdy,

    If you have Motion 3, you just draw a line (an open shape), set the start or end cap to “Arrow”, then apply the Draw On behavior, which will animate the drawing on of the shape. Tweak color, etc, and you’re good to go.

    Can you post some imagery of the “freaking out” you’ve described? If you’re seeing textures get corrupted, it sounds like your graphics card may be getting overwhelmed. If adding a light makes it works, that makes it even more likely that it’s the GPU. What GPU is in the iMac?

    Howdy,

    There are two kinds of sequence behaviors in Motion: text and replicator. They tell the text object or replicator to perform specified changes over the life of the behavior. You can’t apply them to an image, because an image is just that: an image. It’s not a group of sub-objects (like text letters or replicator cells).

    The behavior presets you see applied to the library items are just the regular Sequence Replicator behavior with certain settings chosen. You can create your own replicators or text objects and apply the appropriate sequence behavior yourself, either selecting a preset from the library or creating your own from scratch.

    A simple tutorial on how to use the Sequence Replicator behavior can be found here. You can also take a look in the manual, which fully describes how the sequence behaviors work.
