Hooray for Sony’s poor support of Canon… I have Xh-a1; quad core and won’t be upgrading to Version 8 until they resolve this issue… VERY poor foresight on the part of Sony…
Exact same issue…

Wow… What a shortcoming from the guys at Sony… Just got 30 minutes in to a wedding and realized one small clip that is about a minute long is slightly out of sync… There is no way to fix this once it has gone in to “super Multi Cam” mode….. LAME….

Yep. Vegas 7…
It handles them just fine up to a certain point…. Then it starts freaking out…

Used Cineform to convert to AVI’s… Works fine…
I believe Vegas some how caches the M2T files so that they can be readily played because of the GOP’s… I believe it just begins to eat memory untill Windows will not let it eat any more (2Gb)…
Just an FYI beware of the pain of the M2T files…. Convert em… Do something because God knows you can’t hardly edit them in a large project…

[HowDoYouDoThat] “What type of shooting? ENG, EFP, Indoors, Outdoors? What kind of ratio do you like between key, fill, hair and BG? What type of camera? Is it good in low light?”
It will more than likely be primarily indoors… I have a Canon xh-A1 which does reasonably well in low light… I was really looking for a good starting point for a diverse light kit… Next on the “to get list” is some Kino Flo’s… It’s all a work in progress…
I did go with the Arri Kit by the way…
Thanks again for your input…

On the last link Sony’s own “System Recommendations” do not list a graphics card, as it does nothing in Vegas except utilize display monitors.

I absolutely agree. But it’s application specific as to what hardware is used to do what. For instance 3D studio max and Maya rely primarily on the GPU to get it’s data and renders. My understanding is that Vegas only uses memory and CPU in the render and preview process. So as far as Vegas goes the GPU is fairly much a moot point unless it is a matter of displays and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th monitors.

It’s really frustrating… In After Effects I had to get a plug in that makes everything go BLAZING FAST… Which I wouldn’t mind if I could get Vegas something comparable to that…
With every project I render I hold my breath and cross my fingers to see if it’s going to be an all nighter of troubleshooting…

Set your dynamic RAM preview to “0”… It fixed my problem for the most part however it will cut your CPU usage WAYYYY down (24%)… Seems to be some sort of bug…
In after effects I downloaded a program that was a plug in that puts my CPU usage at 100% when rendering in AFX… I have been looking for something like that in Vegas with no luck…
Hopefully the dev’s will fix this issue and make full use of the Core 2 duo’s abilities…
This issue seems to be in my more extensive projects (4+ layers of video)…
