Slightly o/t but I use a set of japanese relaxation balls to work the kinks out of my fingers after having them wrapped around a mouse for several hours. Don’t think it would work for the wrists but does wonders for my fingers!

    Another way to go…..

we used to have a client (used car dealership) who wanted his whole spot to be testimonials. We set a date, he contacted some customers who had each bought several cars from him, and ordered several pizzas….he made an event of it. We set up the cameras, taped a LOT of testimonials, and made several good one minute spots out of it.

It was professionally done, everyone had a good time, and he even sold a car while we were taping and got a testimonial from the buyer.

“going back what looks like 20 years and covering about every major music/pop culture trend in album cover art and band costumes, mocking a few very well known covers like the Beatles, Kingston Trio, Police, etc.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers did something like that in their song “Dani California”. They did the video with them on stage, and appeared dressed as a 1950’s band, thru the sixties and so on, hitting the major fashion styles through the decades. A pretty cool video.

As I stated in my previous post, if it was taken as part of their military duties, public relations or military newspapers, it might be free for use. If it was taken by military personnel for their own use then you have no right to use it….would you want to have pictures you have taken of family and friends used without your permission? Even if you were talking about all the tragic deaths of the military personnel and the pic had several of them in it. If it was a pic taken by a member of that persons unit for their personal use then they own the rights to it.

As far as E&O insurance and due dilligence is concerned. If it was me, I would require you to prove that they were in the public domain just to avoid lawsuits. Saying ‘they were taken by military personnel and are therefore in the public domain’ would not cut it. You know how this country is about lawsuits.

As a former Marine, I think in instance #2, if the pic is taken by someone with their personal camera, for personal use, whether they are on duty or not or what they do with it afterward (except sell the rights), the pic belongs to them. If they were taking it because it is their job to take it (i.e. Public Relations or whatever) it might be fair game.

I bring this up because a LOT of active duty military take personal pics. It isn’t right to think you have the right to use it just because they are in the military.

Most of the stuff I do doesn’t see a credit roll and since I act as a one man band, the few things I do need credits on need some ‘filling out’. So I usually use the gag credits intermixed with the real ones. You know the type….’catering by Eda Nuff’….’Casting by N. O’talent’ kind of things. Kinda silly I know but it might help hold the viewers attention through the credits.

How about making it a professional autobiography? How YOU made it in the industry. That would not only give someone else ideas that they could use, but also give them the inspiration that they might be able to do it themselves.

“I have just modeled successful people and read many books that I have forged into a sound game plan that has always landed me a job in the television industry.” I would be interested in just what that game plan was. Even though I got the college degree, I’ll bet there is something in it that I could use.

Just make sure you emphasize that it takes hard work and dedication to make it!

Let me know when it comes out, I’ll be interested in reading it.

November 15, 2005 at 7:56 pm in reply to: Can’t hear anything!

Sorry I wasn’t clear, I couldn’t hear during capture (and thanks for clearing that up). The problem I was talking about was hearing the audio during playback after capture. I did a search and finally (MAN there are a lot of posts in this forum!!) and found the answer.

    Thanks,

    Doug
