I love the fact that the page ends with a copyright warning.

“Our newsroom however uses Avid Newscutters and shoots on P2. The only time we would need to work with the newsroom is to grab footage for promo spots which we should be able to access there server from either system.”

This may be part of the reason they want to go with Avid. I would think it would be easier to get files transfered from Avid to Avid than from Avid to FCP. Having worked in a newsroom, if they need video for a promo, they need it right now and if the p2 cards have gone back to the field to cover another story (along with the camera they are in) it might just take too long to do any conversions.

There is something to be said for keeping all the systems the same in-house.

    Nope.

A thought occured to me after my last post tho. Since the light uses the same battery as the camera, makes sense that they would have to have SOME power regulator in there.

At least a dvd player has a reason for it’s complexity. 🙂 But to simply turn on a light?

A thought just occured….I wonder if there is any electronic circuits in my flashlight….be back later, gonna take it apart next!

Everyone has been talking about searching google….did ya know you could do the same thing here at the Cow? I’m not the most active poster this place has ever seen and I came up with 11 posts in 6 forums when I searched my name.

And if you can’t find any posts from them here, do ya really want to hire them? (KIDDING)

As far as google goes….sometimes I just love my name!

OK, I got the tracks into the browser, the problem is when I click on export the only option is to send it to the batch list. All well and good, it goes into the Export Queue. I try to select clip settings and get a pop up saying: “No items have files that are applicable to this operation”

    What am I missing?

You’ll have to scroll down to find the article: Mind Your Business: You Will Lose All The Rights to Your Own Art

However there is another article near the top where he answers some critics of this article.
