I am trying to edit a parody video and thought I had imported the audio from a cd. When I got my laptop home, I got a message saying the source material had been moved(aka I had removed the cd). How do I actually import this music into FCP?

There are bunches of different ways to do this. One way is to use the FCP batch function. Import the tracks off the CD into FCP. The audio is at the CD standard of 44.1KHz. You need to convert it to 48K. Select the tracks in the browser, use Export>Batch. In the Batch window click Settings and change it to AIFF 48K. Set the destination on your hard drive where you want to save the files and run the batch process. When it’s done. Delete the clips from the browser that you imported and reimported the files from your hard drive that you just ripped from the CD.

    All the best,

OK, I got the tracks into the browser, the problem is when I click on export the only option is to send it to the batch list. All well and good, it goes into the Export Queue. I try to select clip settings and get a pop up saying: “No items have files that are applicable to this operation”

    What am I missing?

Do you have the items you want to export selected in the browser? It’s a separate item in the File menu. Batch Export. It’s not in in the Export submenu. No idea why that is.

    All the best,

That seems to have done it.

    Thanks!
