Now I think I understand what you are asking. I don’t believe it is possible in the Timeline for local manipulation if orientation has been adjusted globally. Only in the Comp Window.

Orientation is used for posing (initial starting position) and rotation is used for animating. Rotation will create revolutions and orientation will result in the shortest distance between two points.

If I understand what you mean about the layers own xyz planes, you can set that at the top of your workspace at the end of the tools palette. You have the options of local, global or view modes by selecting the appropriate icon.

    Good luck.

Animate the Physics Time Factor to do this.

Your “some text 3” image is not opening.

Fonts are continuously rasterized in Ae so they are always clean and smooth. That is the starburst icon next to quality.

Use character size and make sure you are looking at 100% full resolution on screen.

    Good luck.

Select them, hold Alt (option) and drag the last one.

With all due respect, why not think about some “traditional” more manual approaches to animation. Create water-droplets and keyframe them. It will take longer but may be well worth the effort and experience. Who knows, it may be the next “new” look.
A little “mesh warp” might be fun. (Don’t forget the traditional principles of animation)

What it won’t look like is a “plug-in”.

    Just a thought. Happy Holidays!

December 21, 2007 at 3:49 pm in reply to: Create Black, not Alpha

    Steve,

A full screen black “solid” won’t render as an alpha channel. A Black “background” will if you tell it to in render queue. They are different.
Use Steve’s suggestion and parent a black solid to each of your masked layers. This will not be transparent.

    Good Luck.

December 11, 2007 at 4:11 pm in reply to: motion tracking is ticking me off!

What works well for me is this:
Pre-comp the layer you want to track.
Then open the pre-comp and enlarge the comp so that it is large enough to accommodate the monitor if you could see it go off screen.
Then back in your original comp, motion track the precomp.
You are going to set Options to Extrapolate, Use perspective corner pin, and analyze backwards. Since the pre-comp layer is larger sitting inside of a smaller Comp, AE has room to extrapolate the motion off- screen Usually works like a charm.
AE actually does this quite well.
    Good Luck
