Thanks for the response. I will do.

I really could use some mass storage, but I am afraid to buy anything not knowing if it will work in a few years.

    Thanks,

    Thank you for the response.

Luckily I don’t have any files on it. I was just hoping to use it as it is as a back-up.

You are correct: Seagate owns them now. I was hoping that would help. But when I chat (the only option) with tech support, they are obviously using an outside, overseas contractor who know quite a bit about hard drives in general but have no specific knowledge on these units.

If it helps, in my case, I’m pretty sure the firmware update is the issue on the controller. If I try to run the firmware update again, it says something like “your firmware is already up-to-date”. I feel this means the computer is seeing the controller but the controller isn’t seeing the drives. Hopefully I find a way to either downgrade the firmware or LaCie/Seagate comes out with a newer firmware update. I’ll let you know if I make any progress.

    Thanks again,

Have you had any luck figuring this out. I just upgraded my firmware, and when I finished it said I was successful. But then when I went to turn it on, no blue lights and I can hear a faint noise inside.

Also a Mac. Mine is an M2 MacBook Pro with Ventura
