Walter, it’s working perfectly!
Thank you very very much! The best part is, that’s exactly the script I was looking for, and it worked like charm!
I will be running it a lot these days, and I have about 5000 layers so if it breaks or if anything goes wrong with the script I will be glad to let you know.
Thanks again, you’ve saved me a lot of time with this script.
Take care!

Walter, you’re great!
20 min ago I was browsing your web and wanted to contact you for help or “just to say hi” 🙂
So, please if you are going to publish it please let me know…
Thanks again!

Thanks a lot Dave,
so I guess I’ll have to repeat all of these steps for every layer I want to precompose (about 2000)…I was really hoping that somehow we could make after effects to include the selected layer’s “track matte layer” in the new precomposed composition.
Maybe this isn’t a bad idea for ae script.
Thanks again!

Hi,
sorry for that… if I have 1000 different compositions in my project, I would like to select/search for “comp001”-“comp100” or “name001-name100”, so I need to input my text “comp001”, hit select/search, and have all comp001-comp100 selected in my script so I can add solids in every selected composition.
I know how to add solids to already selected compositions in project, but I need script to make a selection by text input with numbers from 0-100…

…I know it’s hard to explain, but I did do it manually, only the problem is that maybe I will have to do it again and again, so that’s why I am trying to find some automated solution.
I will try to explain it once again but very simple:
AE project: test01.aep
– 1 solid in 1 comp, solid is keyframed (position and rotation)AE project test02.aep
– everything is same as test01.aep, only different keys in position and rotation of same solid layerSo, I need test02.aep solid keys, on test01.aep solid, because I have 180 solids…
I hope that now you understand my problem. footage is not important because I have my 180 comps or solids, linked to my real footage. So, I need new 180 comps to get in place of old 180 comps…
I think that this is not possible… and thanks for the link!

3D compositions are keyframed (position and rotation).
So, if I have 10 solids (solid01… solid10) or compositions animated in 3D space, is there a chance to have it replaced by same 10 solids from other project with same name (solid01… solid10) and structure but different keys (animation)?
I hope it make sense now… 🙂
Thanks for your help!
