I figured it out! It was because my multicam clip’s frame rate was 25, but the project’s was 23.97! I was hoping there was a way to change the frame rate of a multicam clip, but it seems like there isn’t, so I will just remake the multicam clip.

This is an example of what I’m talking about. I detached the audio from the multicam clips so that it’s easier to see. The top audio is the original, correct speed/pitched audio, and the bottom is the incorrect one. I put the clips to start around the same time, but gradually towards the end, the clips start to desync (the bottom clip gradually slows?).

    Thank you for your response!

I just realized, I guess I meant for both during production as well as during editing!

Walkie talkie! Nice idea! However, wouldn’t there be some sort of slight desync by doing that, or no? I’ll try this next time!

And for Plural Eyes, I watched a quick tutorial, and I was wondering what exactly is the difference between Plural Eyes and FCPX multicam automatic synchronization? I saw a greater range of options for Plural Eyes (ex. more options with audio and using it visually to confirm sync, etc.). Is it just stronger than FCPX’s sync?

Update (sorry for the multiple responses). It seems like if I set the center point to of screen at any corner then set the x/y coordinates to 0 by either the halfway or the 3/4 mark (still testing), I can make a very similar transition. The last question is, though, that the border is both colored and feathered, but it seems like with the preset you can only choose one or the other. I’m trying to achieve the out of focus effect on this transition. Any idea on how to achieve that?

Thank you for your response! I played around with it for a little bit and got something pretty close. For the circle transition, it either does open or close, but it sends like in the video it’s not doing either? Or is it opening? Also, to get it to set center at the end, would I need to keyframe the center point from off center/off screen to center?

Thanks for the help so far!

  • Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for your responses! I was successfully able to duplicate this effect! It was just one dancer (myself), but as instructed, I slowed down my audio to 50% and then danced that part at that speed (it was surprisingly difficult, as I obviously wanted to dance it faster!). Then, in editing I sped up the video x2, and it worked! Very simple yet interesting effect! Thanks so much for the help, everyone, I really appreciate it!
