    hello

yes, understanding the technology before getting started is a good thing. One big catch to this is that the only facility that rents the Panasonic cameras seems to know much less than I do and thus I enivitably end up as the tester. So far I’ve been one of the first local DP’s to use the DVX100, the SDX900, the varicam, and now the HVX200. All the tech info is coming from the web or from phone calls to other editors or DP’s. I did use the demo version of HDlog and I did manage to convert a few of the XMF files independent of FCP. It’s unlikely I will go out and spend $300 for HDlog at the present time and I will try calling the rental house and ask they foot the bill and purchase the software.

anyways, the HVX200 is a great little camera…

    thanks

i just tried to import a single P2 clip in FCP5.0 and i still get the same error message. I’m in full on panic mode now because I just used the HVX200 for a second camera for the sole reason of getting these special shots (main camera was a varicam). I also tried to use the SONY HDCAM (MXF plugin) and this didn’t work either. Last attempt was to import MXF file. This prompts me for a “translation” file. I have no idea what this is.

one thing i did notice with the P2 folder is that some of the folders were missing the “LASTCLIP.TXT” file.

hope something works. if this error is likely to occur in the future, i am really reluctant to use the P2 format.
