[Marie-Christine Laniel] “Is there something that im doing wrong? “
One thing I noticed was that the Fill Opacity seemed the same as Layer Opacity if the comp window was set to Fast Draft (rather than Final Quality)… so to see the difference you’d want to look at Final Quality

[Marie-Christine Laniel] “I have notice that if you activate your ”Layer Style” on any layer in AE, you can acces to blending options → advanced blendind → fill opacity, but this fill opacity seems to do exactly the same effect as normal opacity”
I’m seeing Fill Opacity appear differently than Layer Opacity (the first Blend Mode I tried was Hard Mix because I thought it would look obvious)
here is top layer Layer Opacity 50% Hard Mix Blend

and here is top layer Fill Opacity 50% Hard Mix Blend

here’s my AE project file;

FYI ; https://www.toolfarm.com/blog/entry/new_introducing_kingluma_camcutter_tutorial
Kingluma CamCutter for Adobe After Effects offers a simple, direct, and flexible way to cut between 3D cameras in your 3D After Effects composition.

June 14, 2018 at 2:03 am in reply to: Move an object from one null position to another null position with Slider Control[Guido Giardino] “I need an expression that let me move one shape layer from the first null position (wherever it is), to the position of second null object (wherever it is too). And I think that will be nice to use an slider control in which 0 value will be perfect matching the first null position and 100 will be perfect matching the second null position.”
I’m not the most accomplished at expressions but I had an idea for this that seemed to work – the AE project is here ;
https://kingluma.com/xpressionQuestion6-13-2018.aep.zip
there is an expression control slider (0 to 100) applied to the shape layer that should do what you requested and the expression is applied to the position parameter of the shape layer -

May 29, 2018 at 1:33 am in reply to: How to efficiently switch back and forth between 2 cameras?[Robert Maric] “I have a scene with multiple camera angles and I want to switch between them many times. …I don’t know how to achieve this without adding a new layer each time I want to switch to a camera angle which would become very messy. How can I do this efficiently?”
Hi, Robert – I actually created a script that generates a camera setup to deal with this issue. I just recorded a screencap with voiceover movie here to demonstrate it ; https://www.kingluma.com/camCutter.mp4
Robert, I’m interested to have someone else try it and give me any feedback they may have – so if you want to give it a try email me directly @ ; definitely.dirk(at)gmail.com – replace the (at) with @ – and let me know if you are on Mac or Windows so I can send you the right installer.

May 27, 2018 at 11:47 am in reply to: Why is complexity of a nested comp slowing down rendering of the parent comp even after that nested comp is in ram preview?[Robert Maric] “I change camera angle in the parent comp and how fast it generates that parent comp ram preview depends on the contents of my nested comps. If they have lots of complexity, it’s much slower. Shouldn’t it treat them as effortlessly as a flat video once the nested comp is in ram preview?”
Make sure the “Collapse Transformations” switch is turned off for your precomp ? Is anything in the precomp linked by expression to anything in the master comp ? These are a couple possibilities that could invalidate the cache of the precomp… But in general, yes I think what you say is true and the precomp shouldn’t have to be recalculated every time

April 30, 2018 at 5:18 pm in reply to: is Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit still actively developed ?[Dirk de Jong] “I just got this warning message launching ExtendScript Toolkit (reminding me that it’s still 32bit”
actually I just noticed this on this page [ https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-apps-download.html ] which perhaps seems to indicate that there is a Mac OS 64bit version but that it won’t install on Mac OS later than 10.11.5 ? so maybe there will be a solution there when Mac OS no longer supports 32bit apps

April 3, 2018 at 10:07 pm in reply to: how to know if an effect is 3rd Party? scriptingIf I were trying to do this I might ;
1 – make a list of all the match names for all the built-in effects
2 – have my script find all the effects in the comp/project and their match names
3 – have my script tell me which match names found in the comp/project are NOT also found in the list of built-in match names
4 – and those would be the 3rd party effects -

April 3, 2018 at 3:24 pm in reply to: Need custom titling/animated sidebar effect, similar to Pardon the InterruptionFYI – I’ve heard from several people that the title effect that I created and posted in response to this thread crashes FCP now – and I have confirmed this. Some unknown change in more recent versions of FCP X / Motion has made it so much of the title effect work I’ve previously done crashes and the project files cannot be opened. Very frustrating and disappointing. I reported this as a bug to Apple ;
