    Hallo,

At least for the Decklink HD version I can say that in combination with Premiere Pro and the use of AVI files only 8bit processing is possible. In another thread it is shown that even with 10bit captured files and 10bit project and export settings only 8bit processing is used. Premiere Pro effects and transitions are in 8bit, too.
(AVI export in PPro is only 8bit (even with a 10bit project, and 10bit export settings))
As Digibeta is 10bit I think this could be important for you. So if you depend on 10bit for color correction for example I would recommend to use the MAC as Final Cut Pro HD is 10bit (as far as I know).
But if 8bit is enough for you then you can take PC solution. Despite the 10bit problem the Decklink HD works well with WinXP and Premiere Pro.

    Hope that helps.

  • Maybe I’ve been misunderstood. I didn’t say that the card isn’t capable of 10bit. What I’m saying is that the processing in Premiere Pro
when exporting 10bit files isn’t lossless because of 8-bit processing. I approved it in the previously linked message and it was confirmed by

    Hallo,

Thanks for the answer. But what about Final Cut Pro HD? Can you do 10-bit colorcorrection there?
I want to store the film of a Sony HDW 750 25p right to Harddisk. As far as I know on direct output and not from tape you get “real” 10-bit. I would have to buy a Mac and FCP as I only have a dual-opteron but if I get real 10-bit…
Or is there another PC Software without these limitations? This would be better for me, as I’m familiar with Windows.

    Best regards

    Hi all,

I want to know if that is right, because I wanted to buy a solution for colorcorrection with Windows XP may be the Decklink HD Pro 4:4:4 Dual Link. For me colorcorection is a must have and if I only can use a 8 bit colorcorrection may be I should take a cheaper Decklink HD instead. The miss of the Genlocksupport is no problem to me. Or is there an other way out of this dilemma, for example a driver update or do I have to wait for combustion 5 or Premiere Pro 2.0? Does anyone have tested the “real” colordepth on a MAC with FCP HD or Combustion?

    Please answer soon.

    Best regards
