For anyone needing a fix for this same problem, I think I may have just found the solution.

Options > Preferences > Video > GPU acceleration of video processing > Off!

    Seems to be working now!

Would you mind giving me the render settings you used? I’m having horrible problems trying to render 4K footage from Vegas (https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/978031)

  • So based on the info given in this thread, would these be the steps I’d need to follow to downsample to 10-bit 4:4:4? Just want to make sure I’m understanding correctly.

1- Purchase GoPro Studio Premium ($299) (is there any other alternative software I could use?) which will then add CineForm export settings to Vegas Pro (just 12 or would Vegas Pro 10 be compatible?)
2- At the end of editing a project in 4K, render out the project using the CineForm Export Template with 4:4:4 1080p settings that I assume will automatically be a part of Vegas after Step 1
3- A 1080p 4:4:4 video file is created (in what format?)

Is it as simple as this, or am I misunderstanding something?

John, I think you may have hit the nail on the head, but I’m confused as to why this would be an issue, since importing video works just fine from this external. The audio’s bitrate is 4608kbps whereas a lot my video is around 40000kbps (hacked GH2) or 50000kbps (5D2).

I just tested my older externals and found that importing the same audio file I posted the screenshots of worked perfectly from there. The newer external I’m using is 5400RPM whereas the older ones I have are 7200RPM.

Very interesting that the audio would appear so corrupted after importing from a slower harddrive rather than simply lagging like video, which is what I would have assumed would have happened if my drive were too slow.
