  • If you’re looking for multi-cam editing FCPX hands down winner.

  • Getting rid of the subscription would be nice.

I’ve actually done quite a bit of editing over remote desktop with FCPX from about 1,000 miles away. I know not the same but I can see how it could work without a huge investment.

[Gary Huff] “I really don’t think there’s any disagreement about this aspect. I think it now boils down to whether or not you want tracks.”

Or want to pay a subscription and rely on the cloud.

[Walter Soyka] “I wasn’t attempting to answer Oliver’s question. I was responding quite narrowly to Devin and David, clarifying that with the latest release of CC 2014, the rigging/publishing workflow they were citing is no longer unique to FCPX/M5 in this comparison.”

Still misses the point of the thread.

[Walter Soyka] “CC 2014 introduces live text templates [link], which are Ae comps with replaceable text in Premiere.”

Still requires the Cloud, sorry but a no go for our organization.

Ability to custom create titles and effects is huge. We produce episodic programming and have found the ability to create our own them of effects and titles was the biggest plus.

Multicam in FCPX has by far the best implementation of it compared to all the editors we have worked with.

    Reliance on the cloud.

  • After looking at the Color profile metadata it looks like they both record in different color profiles for whatever reason.

  • I’ve tried both and actually have seen the same thing with FCP7. Not sure if it’s in the difference in how AJA or BMD handle prores or not. Or if the AJA card treats the BMD colorspace differently. All seem to mix when played back. Just want to double check since we are thinking about getting a Ki Pro as our main recorder and use the Decklink Quad as our ISO system. Given this only happens with SD footage, we don’t see the same results when recording in HD.
