Editing Decklink and Kona recorded footage together – Color Shift
We’ve noticed during editing that when paused any clip that’s been recorded with a Decklink Quad or Studio card has brighter and more saturated skin-tones than footage that’s been recorded with a Kona card. However when being played back we can tell no difference, the Decklink footage shifts and matches the Kona footage. It’s like they are using a different Color space or something but we can only tell the difference when they are stopped. Anyone have any explanation for this? We are editing off of a older Mac Pro 8×2.4 and KONA LH-E card.

I’ve tried both and actually have seen the same thing with FCP7. Not sure if it’s in the difference in how AJA or BMD handle prores or not. Or if the AJA card treats the BMD colorspace differently. All seem to mix when played back. Just want to double check since we are thinking about getting a Ki Pro as our main recorder and use the Decklink Quad as our ISO system. Given this only happens with SD footage, we don’t see the same results when recording in HD.

After looking at the Color profile metadata it looks like they both record in different color profiles for whatever reason.
