I’m no expert on this as I’ve never had to do it before, but you may be able to speed up the “slow way” by making 16 duplicates of your sequence (you can do this by right-clicking on the sequence in the project panel and choose ‘duplicate’, or copy and paste), then in each one mute all but one of your channels, and set up a render que in the Media Encoder…

How do you batch rename in Windows Explorer? I tried it and I only found a standard rename option- and when I used it with multiple clips selected, it only affected one of them…

I tried this out and it did work- you just have to make sure the track(s) with the clips you want to apply the fades to are selected, and the CTI has to be right over the end of the clip for the shortcut to work- which is where the PageDown key comes in.

This looks like it could be a HUGE timesaver…

    Hi Cal,

I haven’t used FCP enough to personally give a good description of this, but there was a thread here not too long ago that should be helpful to you:

September 11, 2011 at 5:15 am in reply to: If I double my Ram will I double my fun?

I’d definitely recommend adding more ram to your system. I started with 6 Gigs in my system and added another 12 not to long ago to bring the total to 18, and It’s made a HUGE difference. I don’t have a CUDA card and I haven’t done anything with lots of layers yet, but I HAVE seen a big improvement in real-time performance. If I drop the playback resolution to half, I can now play back a clip with several complex effects added to it- like color correction, ProcAmp, and a blur effect- in real time.

Having lots of ram will also help a lot if you want to do a dynamic link to an AE comp, since you’ll have two ram-loving programs open at once…

You can set a clip marker by selecting the clip and going to the “marker” menu and select SET CLIP MARKER -> UNNUMBERED. By default there’s no shortcut key for this, but you can create one in “Keyboard Customization” in the EDIT menu.

Another thing you could try is set sequence markers like you’ve been doing, then when you’re done marking beats, nest the sequence into a new sequence- then all the sequence markers will become clip markers in the nested clip.

While you can’t selectively choose what to paste while doing a “paste attributes” just yet, one thing you CAN do now which is kinda the same is highlight the clip you want to copy the effects from, then go to the “Effect Controls” panel and control-click the ones you want to add to the other clip(s), then copy and paste them…

Judging from THIS… It very well could be in the not-to-distant future.

    #6 – Close Gap command

if you right-click in a gap you’ll get a little one-item menu with the option to ripple delete
