There’s a lot more to choose from and Mercury on CUDA is much more mature, having been out a lot longer. I’m actually not even sure PPro supports OpenCL on the PC side right now. I think it’s just on the MacBook Pros at the moment.

So basically tha main I/O is completely useless without a mac because thunderbolt and the fact that the camera formats the SSD’s to HFS
HFS isn’t a complete showstopper- just get MacDrive for the PC and you’re good to go…

This sounds really cool. I REALLY LIKE the fact that it records on standard SSDs instead of a new, proprietary format.
I also like the fact that it records RAW footage in CinemaDNG- this means Premiere Pro and SpeedGrade will be able to use it right away!

I think the Editors’ Lounge, or something like that, might be cool. The discussions that happen here seem to be along the same lines as what goes on in those videos (though sometimes they’re not as civilized, but that seems to be calming down a bit).
On a side note- I saw someone mention the pre-NAB video from this year and it sounded interesting. Can someone tell me where I can find it? I did a search but no luck…

“Will P Pro 6 edit for me so I can sleep when the producer leaves?”
Yes- but it will also get mentioned in the credits in the place where your name would have been if you hadn’t dozed off. 😉

First off, I want to say that you guys did an incredibly amazing job on this release. I can’t even imagine how much work it must have taken to get it this far, especially in a release cycle that saw such a disruptive change in direction when the FCP refugees started pouring in…
As far as questions go- I remember reading that Prelude can transcode clips into another format while ingesting them. Let’s say you bring a bunch of clips of varying formats into PPro natively, then for whatever reason decide you want to transcode some or all them instead. Is there a way to quickly replace several native clips with the transcoded versions at the same time?
Also, is transcoding on ingest something that Premiere can do, or does it have to be done in Prelude?

If you click on Premiere Pro in the “what’s Inside” list on the right, you’ll see a very detailed PDF that describes all the new features.
A few that stood out to me:
– improved trim tools
– trimming and color correction during playback
– unlimited multicam angles
– Mercury Engine support on MacBook Pro using OpenCL
– If I see the words “Sleek new interface” one more time I’m going to scream- But it does look really nice.So far, PPro CS6 looks simply amazing overall. This is the biggest upgrade to Premiere since it first changed into Premiere Pro…

I noticed in the section on @radical.media their gear list just says “Mac”, even though they are in fact using a Mac Pro, as evidenced by the Cinema Display in the photo of Cy Christiansen.
Well, either that or they don’t want to mention the fact that they are using a Mac Mini for editing… 😉

Wow, AVC-Ultra sounds more exciting than I originally thought- For some reason I was thinking it was just a higher-bit-rate version of AVC-Intra with 3D capability. I didn’t know it went up to 4k.
An AF-100 type camera that uses this would be really sweet!
