Mayalin: This is the description Creative Cow provides for this FORUM:
Lighting Design Pros
Creative Cow’s Lighting Professional’s forum community is dedicated to the discussion of pro level film and broadcast lighting design. That seems to negate your involvement in this FORUM. It might not stipulate that you have to be a professional to post; but if you jump into the shark tank be prepared for whatever might happen.
If you want to make hot tea, there are many resources other than contacting the IRON CHEF to find out how to boil water.

I’m currently doing something similar for a project. I’m using a mix of 12kw HMI Fresnels, 6kw HMI Pars, and a dozen Vari*Lite 3500’s.

September 29, 2012 at 5:09 pm in reply to: lighting up a 16 feet x 16 feet room for video recordingI think you should not worry about lighting a room and instead light for the people, event, or subject you’re shooting IN that room.
You have 3 lights. It appears to be fait accompli the way you’ve presented it.
You’ve already decided what you’re doing. You said your PAR was your backlight; then your 2 Kino’s must be some combination of sidelight and frontlight.By the way, there’s no law that says one of your Kinos couldn’t be your backlight — and your PAR the Keylight.
Don’t “paint yourself into the corner” of your 16’x 16′ space.

Excellent advice John … as usual.
The PRG Trucolor is a very good fixture, with a wonderful quality of light.
Have you tried the new Litepanel Helio Hi-Output LED? It’s an excellent alternative and even compliment to the Trucolor, especially for throw distances as far as 20′-0″. It is 5600 Kelvin, and at only 100w, it’s 72 10deg LED’s replace the need for a 1.2kw HMI. We bought about 40 of them for our lighting at the London OLYMPICS.
We then used them for the Democratic National Convention and will be sending them out for the upcoming Presidential Debates.DS

You shouldn’t be buying clamps separate from the fixture.
Buy the fixture and the clamp that goes with it. Arri makes an excellent clamp — use it. Why waste time shopping for separate clamps?
If you do feel a need to “shop around” for clamps then go to THE LIGHT SOURCE (coolclamps.com). They have every clamp you can imagine.

Very often these clamps don’t tighten down on very small pipes (1″ and smaller) due to the bolts used. You could simply replace the bolt with a longer one however.
If you’re using much smaller pipe however, perhaps you don’t need such a large clamp. What type fixture are you using?
