Walter, when I capture 8 bit sd. then play back out my timeline through the KONA card through the Sony M25 tape deck to my SD monitor. My fonts are zigzagged.

Is that the color red you want to use?

I agree with you on the SD as opposed to HD. I think since our client is broadcasting in SD this next two years. This next summer we’ll upgrade to the new RED cameras and be ready for their HD needs.

Thanks Chris. I have the new Kona Card and I am capturing from the xlh1 cause the New Sony M25 deck won’t play the canon 1080i 30p tapes.

RED, is a question that if you’ve been in the industry very long you’ve seen all shades of red. From 1″ machines to D5. Everyone’s red is a different shade.

if my timeline is to be sent out for broadcast. AND a DVD made I want to edit on a 1440x1080i timeline. then export that for SD broadcast and for DVD. For the DVD I’ll use the settings you suggested.

My question is also, is that the best timeline settings for HDV footage from HDV cameras?

I tried to view the footage out of the camera to a TV out of the video port on the side of the XLH1. NO luck. is there some setting that has to be changed in the menu?

Todd, thanks for that answer. I have a feeling you might be right. I was hoping to not have to use the camera. Are you using a Kona card to capture with? And I wonder if that card would make a diff.?
