It’s not a naive question, it’s a dbase design that makes little sense for the average users (and this this is not clear when Davnici saves projects– software doesn’t communicate this at all with the user and assumes a lot of things, keeping the user in the dark until later), who aren’t running 50 network tv shows at the same time. BM needs to create a “small guy” options, and not think everyone will need their database system.

If the database gets corrupted, without back up, that’s the end of our projects.

BM wants to compete with Avid, another database driven standard, and can’t bring itself to think that the customer base for their stuff is in the Adobe crowd, not the studio system with vast and deep IT infrastructure.

Who am I to say. I am just ignorant of the process of a big budget films.

    Hi Jean,

What happened to your pursuit of rights?

It’s been four years, and just wondering if anything changed for you.

    Theo,

Thanks that is a solution. It does work.

However, I still have another problem.

As you mentioned, I am applying it to the track and clip, but when I tried this in applying the fx to the Project Media, obviously it is not synched together.

The problem that I have is that I can not preview the fx as I apply it to the project media in multicam editing.

So I tried to trick Vegas by adding the project media clips to another track that will not be used for MultiCam editing. By watching it in these new tracks I can see the preview.

Here is what I have, before and after multicam:

    ORiginal tracks:

    Track 1, Cam 1: clip 1, clip 2, clip 3

    Track 2, Cam 2: Clip 4, clip 5, Clip 6

Track 3, Cam 1: PM Clip 1, PM Clip 2, PM Clip 3
    (PM Project Media)

Track 4, Cam 2: PM Clip 4, PM Clip 5, PM Clip 6

    After MultiCam editing:

    Track 1, Cam 1,2: MC Clip 1,4; MC 2,5; MC 3,6;

Track 3, Cam 1: PM Clip 1, PM Clip 2, PM Clip 3

Track 4, Cam 2: PM Clip 4, PM Clip 5, PM Clip 6

I now can see the Media clip FX in Tracks 3 and 4, when I apply the FX color correction.

But, applying the FX to PM Clip 1, the unlock button cursor sync button for keyframe timeline for the Project media is grayed out.

There is no way of seeing what my cursor’s position is in Track 3, in FX timeline, since it is being at the media level and not at the track level.

This issue stems from the fact that I can not see the actual FX preview in the monitor when I’m applying the FX and I need to keyframe it so that I can match second camera’s color to the first as I MultiCam Edit. Otherwise, I have to edit separately and color correct after multicam which will be a huge problem, with small cuts and all.

I’d followed other threads on this site about adding FX to the media level, but I still have this small cursor synch problem so I know exactly where to apply the keyframe.

If you have any suggestions, I’d appreciate getting it.

    Thanks again.

    Warmly,

    Shamil

Too late to your rescue, but the trick is to have a separate track for that file, use the media file to drag on to a new track, apply media fx and watch in preview, then the media has been fx’ed. But when playing in the preview, it will not show it, only in rendering.

Have to see if it has been fixed in Sony Vegas 9.

Hope this helps. I had to rack my brains for an hour to figure this out.

I have tried to color correct in the media file, in the Project Media, but I can not preview what I’m color correcting. The trimmer does not show the color correction of media.

    1. In Project Media

    2. Choose file

    3. Right Click > Media Fx

    4. Add Fx chain

    5. See media in trimmer but the color correction is not showing any of the changes.

This is where other comments leave off.

Any way to see the media fx color correction preview?

    Thanks.
