    CS6 has two different renderers; Ray Traced, and Classic 3D. If you want access to the blending modes, ensure your composition is using the Classic 3D rendered. This can be found by going to your composition settings, click on Advanced tab, then select it from the Renderer drop down list.

    Thanks Vishesh. I had made a fundamental error in my pre comp in amongst messing with blending modes. Andrew Kramer’s tutorials are a great resource. The bulge effect now does what I need.

    Great stuff. Realised that I messed all the brightness / contrast levels up in the reflection precomp whch is why I was getting absolutely nowwhere, however, your tip about the blowing out of the highlights on a separate layer works really well, and the other blend modes (screen/add/lighten) are doing what I expect now. Sometimes you can’t see for looking. Also now added some gradients for rolling off some of the reflections.

    The bulge effect seems to work nicely now on the reflection and then separately just on the clock face at the edge to give the impression that the glass is thicker etc.

    Thanks for your help

  • Looks like you may be able to achieve something similar if you take a look at a couple of tutorials over at videocopilot.net

    In particular there is building a 3D room and the use of the sure target plugin. At least that should be a starter for 10. You will also need to either use lux or animate your own lights coming on.

    Hi,

    This guide shows how to create / add closed captions to a movie. Not sure if this is what you are looking for:

    Also, if you have compressor, this may be of some use:

    I recently was in the same position, however I am interested in quality of the microphones. I decided to spend a bit more and go for the Roland R26, on spec, but mainly because it can record 6 channels, and has nice big level controls. I received it last week and it’s the first product I’ve bought in a long time that excites me more now I have it. It’s simple awesome. Rigged feeling, easy to use and absolutely crystal clear sounds. I have yet to plug an external mic in though!

    Hi,

    This is doable.

    1. Stabalize the shot then make 3 copies
    2. The lower copy, draw a mask around the hill edge that you want to keep (shown in blue below). Note I did a rough mask in the screen grab.
    3. On the next layer up, use the rotobrush and roto the left actor
    4. On the top layer, use the rotobrush and roto the right actor. On both of these you need only roto the parts of the actors that go above the horizon.

    Now drop in the sky / background of choice. You may need to add some choke to the rotobrush layers to fine tune the edges.

    Hi Chris,
    Without seeing the whole shot in motion it’s difficult to say, but I would look to use something like the rotobrush or just a plain animated mask on a copy of the footage to preserve the details that get lost with the Luma keyed footage, then put that layer on top of your keyed footage.

    Just put value there as below

    if (transform.position[2] > -1) {
    value
    } else {
    text.animator("Animator 1").selector("Range Selector 1").offset
    };
