You need to use the Timecode Generator filter.
I’m not certain of the path right now, but if I’m remembering correctly, it’s in the Effects>Video Filters>Video>Timecode Generator. You may have to nest your sequence and add it. Don’t use the Timecode Reader. That will give you the code for each clip, not for the whole timeline.
If you don’t have a fast enough Mac, you may have to render.

That’s been on the wishlist since the early days.
If you’d like to submit a request to Apple via their feedback page on their website, that might help a little, but in the meantime, it’s a manual process. Might be worth it to put a postit or tape a note somewhere to remind yourself.

It’s likely because you updated QuickTime with the Tiger install and the Panther re-install wouldn’t undone that. Not knowing what your process for installing is, it’s tough to know for sure.
Did you do a complete wipe and install on a fresh drive? I have upgraded to Tiger in the past several weeks and have not noticed and “slowing”. If you just installed Tiger over Panther, that may have been the source of your slowing to begin with. Installing Panther back over Tiger could possibly create even more issues.
Again, I don’t know if this is what you did, but IF you did that, it may be worth it to backup what you have now and fully erase the drive and try your Tiger install again. Or if you just don’t trust it, install Panther again, but always install an OS upgrade on a clean drive. Updates are fine, but version upgrades are a whole different ball game.

Only you know how much you pay for the benefits you supply yourself that will be replaced by what they would be supplying.
Do the math. What do you pay for your health, disability, unemployment & life insurance, and retirement? Average it out and subtract it from your hourly freelance wage. Then figure the added sick days and paid holidays. Subtract that from your freelance wage. That’s really the way to figure it out apples to apples.
They may offer things you aren’t willing to pay for, like some of the insurance(s). That’s a bonus, then. Makes the math less accurate, but still…

It did take a few days to get into the que, but once I was assigned a real person, he was very helpful and right on top of things until my problem was solved.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from having 2 grandmothers, one that’s 93 and the other that’s 97 years old…you’re NEVER too young to save for your retirement.
It’s really easy in this day and age to outlive your money. The sooner you start contributing to your retirement, the better off you’ll be. Even in the lean years, I’ve usually maxed out my retirement contributions. The only years I didn’t was when I bought my first house a decade ago. I dropped my 401(k) contributions to 5% so I could pay the mortgage. I think I did that for two years, and then maxed out my contributions again when my raise allowed me to pay the mortgage and fully fund my 401(k).
As far as college saving for your children vs. retirement savings, this is my own opinion, so if you disagree, I’d love to hear about it, but this is just my own personal observation. There are dozens of ways to get college paid for. There’s really only one way to fund a retirement. Take care of your retirement first, and the kids’ college funds second. They’ll thank you for it when they don’t have to pay your bills when you’re 97!

The short answer is you don’t. This is something incredibly frustrating, and one would think incredibly easy for Apple to program that we have been asking for since version 1. Alas, our requests have gone unheeded. Maybe FCP 6.
There are two fast ways around it. Screen capture and Exporting Batch List. Screen capture works well if you’re bin length doesn’t exceed your screen. Exporting Batch List works, but you don’t get icons. You open the Batch List in a word processor and copy and paste it into a spreadsheet. I use Appleworks. Others use Word and Excel.

If you have a FW 400 device connected to the PB, then any FW 800 device will slow down to FW 400. FW 800 alone should give you FW 800 speeds.
Getting a PCMCIA card can give you 2 busses of FW 800 speed, providing the devices attached run at FW 800. Attaching a deck or camera will drop either one down to the equivalent of FW 200, I believe.

Have you completely deleted the old render files? If the corruption is in a render file, this should clear it. Yes, you’ll have to re-render, but it sure beats the alternative. Do a system search for “Render”, so in case you have an errant render files folder somewhere, you can find that one, too.
Give it a try, and then render and see if that clears it up.
