  • For the length of using Sony, I’ve never been able to render to an external. No other selections. Is your installation on your C drive?

  • Hi John:

My film is 1 hour and 42 minutes. My dilemma is that Sony will only allow me to render on my hard drive. When I choose to render directly to DVD I can render on an external drive. My hard drive only has approx. 75 GB available and when I render to Avid DNxHD I keep getting an error message stating that I may not have enough memory. I am thinking about reinstalling Sony on an external so that I can render on the external. Is this possible? I know that Cubase does not allow installation on externals.

  • Hi John:

Would you know what Audio Codec: LPCM (Little or Big Endian)is? It is something I can select in Vegas? I can’t seem to find it.

Also I noticed in the configuration of the Avid DNxHD, there is a selection for either uncompressed and compressed. Based on the specs I’ve shared should I select uncompressed. The specs list 10 bit and 8 bit uncompressed separate from Avid DNxHD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Debbie

    Thank you so much John:

I reinstalled Vegas and all is well so far. I have a confession. I’m not sure if you remember when you and Grazie told me that I should have AC3 Pro since I have Vegas 12, and I told you that I didn’t see it when I rendered. Well, when I reinstalled Vegas, guess what option I overlooked? Installing DVD Architect Pro. I never installed it before. That’s why I didn’t have AC3 Pro. I have it now and all is well.

Thank you so much everyone for troubleshooting me through this movie. I think I am finished so far. I have one issue that I must avoid spending too much time with, and that is the look of one of the cameras that is different from the rest. It’s driving me nuts, but I have to live with it, I know.

    All the best,

    Debbie

    Thank you so much Mark.

I will take another look at it. Since I jumped the issue and started selecting my folders by clicking the folder Icon, I went on to another issue at hand that I just solved; the flickering in the picture.

I reinstalled Vegas, and my explorer is still not working, so I will definitely try your suggestion.

    All the best,

    Thank you John:

I figured out my problem. It was my computer monitor that caused the flickering. I had it set to Dynamic Contrast by mistake and it kept causing all kinds of picture issues in Vegas and rendering as well. I stumbled across Brightness and contrast, because when I rendered using the Blu Ray settings the Blu Ray would have lots of additional contrast. I was looking for something to lessen the contrast and found the plugin. I helped a great deal. I will try using the levels and curves next time.

Thank you so much for your help everybody.

    Thank you so much John.

What a relief. Has this flickering and dimming ever happen to you with your external monitor in Vegas? If so, did you reinstall or was there a remedy other than reinstalling?

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

  • Thanks Grazie:

I just watched this film for the 1000th time, and figured out that the flickering is really in the rendering. I did see some flickering when I watched it earlier, but this time I didn’t see any. I am rendering to Blu ray directly; not using DVD Architect. The settings are the same as if I had rendered first and created a MPEG2 file. Now that I’ve watched it and saw no flickering, I will try to render it again to see what happens.

    Many thanks Grazie.

    Best,

    Debbie
