Ah, ok, I got it. So there is no way that I can use the plug in from the original machine? And as far as using media manager, I’m a little naive, so excuse my ignorance, but I can use it to get the original capture scratch, render and project files over into the new laptop? even if the project and all of its files are on the external drive?

Also, just to clarify, the project resides on an external hard drive, not the machine itself.

I just installed it from the original discs. Since I had looks on the original machine and saved it into the project, I thought it would transfer over, no?

Hey Shane,
thanks for all of your input and help. I’ve recompressed to prores422- it took two days, but it’s all in the correct format now. I’ve gone through all the footage and with the exception of two clips, it all looks the same. I was able to fix the color correction on the two clips mentioned, but there’s one thing that is weird: The entire movie is several minutes shorter than before. Thoughts?

Yeah, I looked at the wrong line when I said there was no compression for the individual clips. Individual clips are at h.264 and they’re mov files. I have no idea how the sequence ended up like that.

Something weird that I found. I went and followed with your suggestions, but the output was still stretched on the 1920×1080 workspace.
So I went back and checked the attributes of individual clips and found that they were all 1920×1080 with square pixels and no compression. I decided to check the overall sequence attributes and saw that they’re 720×480, with h.264 compression and the pixels are NTSC-ccir 601.
Why? Is this the source of my problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks for the reply! I just pick one shot and then drop the whole timeline in a new sequence? They used two different cameras, so half of the clips are of different settings. How will that fact impact your suggestion, if at all?
