Thanks for your response. I solved the problem. As with a lot of things it was basically operator error due to brain fart. Sorry to have trouble the forum.

I’ve tried trashing Compressor preferences. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Compressor. I’ve tried trashing FCP preferences. I’ve tried taking the timeline and media files to my laptop and external Firewire 800 drive. But FCP won’t let me render the timeline. It says the CODEC is missing. It’s a DV/DVCPro program.

Never mind guys. I figured this out and am happily able to import my P2 footage from the archival drive. Thanks, as ever to Creative Cow for the stimulation.

I have just archived 91 GB of 1080i60 footage from a Firestore FS-100 to an external 250GB Firewire 800 drive. Before I can edit, I need to clear the Firestore for another shoot. Per Shane’s advice, I copied the Contents and LastClip.txt files to the external drive. When I attempt to import P2 media from the external drive to FCP 5.1.1 the .mxf files are greyed. I can import directly from the FS-100.

    What is the problem?

    Shane:

I bought the FS-100 for use with the HVX-200P. Is the process the same as the p-2 cards. Do you have to organize the media as P-2 media before you take it over to what I refer as the Parking Garage drives and then when you’re ready to edit import into FCP and the media drives.

What do you recommend as Parking Garage drives?

Thanks much. I’m a moron. This is a great resource. I’m adapting to FCP and at times its a rocky road. Similar to the rocks I have in my head. Again, thanks for your help.
