September 25, 2019 at 1:05 am in reply to: Export stuck at 0% – Can I Export without transcoding?ok so apparently all that needed doing was switch my export options. I was exporting as:
Format>Video and Audio
Video codec>H.264
Res> 1920×1080…switched to the settings from Joe’s post and the export cranked out in under a minute. Thanks again!

As a temporary shortcut to hopefully show my client something asap, is there a way to bypass the transcoding background task and still get a good movie file output? I ask that realizing any background task may get hung up if there’s a wonky clip or something in there. but thought id’ ask…

Thanks Jeff – And do you know if you can only use the Apply Custom Name preset to clips in the browser? I need to apply names to the clips in the timeline.
Still using a dinosaur of a computer, and it looks like my graphics driver doesn’t support Davinci Resolve. That makes things more time consuming and the reason I’m trying to find a fix within fcpx.
Thanks for any suggestions!

October 22, 2018 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Update FCPX to 10.4.3 from 10.0.9 – Need a fix ASAP please! On that topic, I may be under-utilizing a notification setting somewhere that tells me when there’s an update, like you get for OSX or iOS. Or would I only be able to get that notification when I open the FCPX app?

Then, magically, for reasons known only to some random dude or dudette behind the curtain at Apple, FCPX finally showed up in the Purchases and I was able to just Install. Thank god.

October 20, 2018 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Update FCPX to 10.4.3 from 10.0.9 – Need a fix ASAP please! Thanks for the responses everyone. Yes it appears the only way to update the old projects from 10.0.9 is to install the 10.2.3 trial version on an old OS X boot drive, update the files, then reopen the latest version and import the updated libraries…..I’ll just do that in all this spare time I’ve got. ????
So pissed I have to jump through these ridiculous hoops to get this done, and I’ll pay attention to updates so I don’t get burned again.
At least they didn’t make me pay for a full version again. Gee thanks Apple.

WellI I tried that, but when I did the download and install for FCPX Trial 10.2.3, it installed fine but when I tried to open it it said that version isn’t compatible with High Sierra. This is maddening! Any other suggestions for my next course of action?

Revisiting this thread as I’m just now getting around to addressing a fix….
I successfully updated the firmware on my MacPro, making it a MacPro5,1 and now able to accept the High Sierra OS X 10.13.6 update. So I’m up to date to download the latest FCPX, but when I try it through the App Store, click Update, the spinning gear wheel starts going, but nothing happens. It’s been spinning for about 2 hours now. Any idea what’s going on? Does it actually take this long to update? And what should happen when the update is complete? Thanks for any assistance!

Oh great thanks! Looks like it might be as simple as booting to an external USB with High Sierra loaded. fingers crossed….

Ok Thanks. Any solution for me then? I’m running a mid 2009 MacPro and isn’t listed as being compatible with High Sierra. Since I’m not ready to buy a whole new system, is there an older upgrade of FCPX to update to allow me to stay in El Capitan?
