  • 10.4.3 FCPX update keeps running

Apologies if this has been covered but too many posts to search through. I recently updated Mac OSX from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 to El Capitan 10.11.6. Tried to open Final Cut Pro X and it says I have to update to latest version. So I open FCPX in App Store and click the Update button. The process wheel in the upper left starts running, but then it just keeps running and nothing happens. Does anyone now the fix for this and how to properly update to latest FCPX? Thanks in advance!

You need OS X 10.3.2 or later to run 10.4.3

Ok Thanks. Any solution for me then? I’m running a mid 2009 MacPro and isn’t listed as being compatible with High Sierra. Since I’m not ready to buy a whole new system, is there an older upgrade of FCPX to update to allow me to stay in El Capitan?

I forget the exact steps, but there’s a simple procedure to make the mid-2009 into a 2010, which will still accept HS. Do a Google search and it should pop up.

Oh great thanks! Looks like it might be as simple as booting to an external USB with High Sierra loaded. fingers crossed….

Revisiting this thread as I’m just now getting around to addressing a fix….

I successfully updated the firmware on my MacPro, making it a MacPro5,1 and now able to accept the High Sierra OS X 10.13.6 update. So I’m up to date to download the latest FCPX, but when I try it through the App Store, click Update, the spinning gear wheel starts going, but nothing happens. It’s been spinning for about 2 hours now. Any idea what’s going on? Does it actually take this long to update? And what should happen when the update is complete? Thanks for any assistance!
