I did not try AE but I could not get the footage to recompress with audio in media encoder.

I am having the same type of problem with importing into Adobe Premiere CS5.5. I can’t seem to find a good work flow that adds timecode and lets me log the footage so I can keep it organized. The CMU tool that sony gives you to use kind of sucks. Does anyone have a good solution?

  • The only problem I see with that solution is any clip over 10 min or 2GB is broken up into 2 clips which then has frames missing when conforming. You have to use the Sony CMU software to put them together. I don’t think PPR CS5.5 media browser does this.

Thanks for the response. I found out the audio was recorded in LPCM which I found out does not work well with Windows media player or PPRo. Now I need to find out how to extract that audio. Do you have any suggestions? How do I manually tell Premiere that I am using this audio because when I import the clips there is no audio attached.

  • I capture HDV from firewire and then edit on a Blackmagic timeline for monitoring. I would capture with the Shuttle but not having control of the camera sucks for logging the batch capture.

I have the same problems on my machine using CS5 and Windows 7. I did update my drivers and it helped a little but I still get a lot of crashes. I am using the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle and I thought that might be the problem. So I started editing on a non Black magic timeline. That seems to be working right now. So I think it might be a Adobe/Black magic problem. I never had this problem with a mac and black magic on FCP. I hope this helps.

  • I put the footage in a non Blackmagic codec timeline and I will try that out tomorrow all day. It sucks not having a monitor to view on though.
