Bought my HDX 900 in September… sent in for the guide a few months later after hearing about it on one of the boards… but was rejected as well.

I have this dilemma as well… in that I will be capturing from Panasonic HDX 900 which has not rs-422, and the IOHD can’t take its firewire feed.

So I will be coming in HD-SDI, using VTR Exchange as you suggest… however, any thoughts on still being able to get “deck” control of the camera somehow through the cameras firewire port?

otherwise, it will be a hard roll, and a capture now sort of process.

Any ideas, or is deck control out of the question in this configuration?

I just bought this unit too and will use with MacPro and Caldigit Raid. My assumption was that once the ProRes codec files are on the hard drive…. I could view them in FCP through direct DVI connection to computer monitors if I wanted, whether or not the IOHD was on…. or I could loop through IOHD to any monitoring situation…. but if I wanted to just go with computer monitors…. I would be able to do that without the IOHD.

Is this not correct?

As always, it all depends on what you need etc etc…. but a basically $10,000 dollar price point difference…. better be more than deeper menu and adjustment options to justify that. Is there something that I missing?… if one is willing to jump into P2 at this point, is the hvx500 a better value as a camera and offer pretty much the same capability as the 900?
