    I have some questions.
I decide to test a workflow with prores for sd editing…Aja help me when i edit my pro res footage or only when i capture footage and i want to transcode to prores ? ? ?Im a bit confused as you can see..

    Thanks in advance

p.s. sorry for my poor english,i m trying to improve them…

With the ioHD, you can capture whatever footage you have to ProRes (or any other SD codec). In HD you should work with ProRes.

If you have ProRes footage, the ioHD will play it out, along with any other SD codec without transcoding.

    Does that help?

If you do not have power to the ioHD, you will not be able to monitor your ProRes footage.

For a start cause i make only tests and not “real” editings i wonder if iohd helps my mac lets say with the processor power ? ?There is a difference if i edit with plug in iohd as concerns the “power” and the “speed” of my machine in the editing ? ? ?

To monitor my footage except my display is for me an other issue 😉

No. the ioHD does not accelrate your machine.

I just bought this unit too and will use with MacPro and Caldigit Raid. My assumption was that once the ProRes codec files are on the hard drive…. I could view them in FCP through direct DVI connection to computer monitors if I wanted, whether or not the IOHD was on…. or I could loop through IOHD to any monitoring situation…. but if I wanted to just go with computer monitors…. I would be able to do that without the IOHD.

    Is this not correct?

You can use the digital cinema desktop preview in FCP. It’s highly inaccurate and takes up one of your screens, but it’s doable.
