Don’t sweat it, ALL Promise T-bolt RAID enclosures come preconfigured as RAID 5.
FYI, you still need to backup EVERYTHING, as no kind of RAID protection will keep you covered completely.

What happened to simply delivering the takes to the client with timecode burned in to allow them to select the material with accuracy down to the frame if necessary?
I understand that clients are all like children who need to be guided through the world with sign posts so they need not use their tiny brains, but honestly, I think you are making your life way more difficult than necessary.

Download MPEG Streamclip (it’s free) and use it to rip your DVD first, then convert to virtually any video codec. However, WMV is a horrible choice whether you’re a Windows guy or not.

This is the FCP legacy forum, not the FCP X forum. However, your issue is more than likely related to hard drive throughput, not anything else. Your editors need at least two or more drives configured as a RAID.

Dreamcolor monitors are now ancient technology, and they were never easy to setup and Calibrate unless you worked at Dreamworks and had their technical team on your team. If you really want to do the job right, get yourself a pre-calibrated broadcast monitor (Flanders is my fav) or get a good LCD that can be professionally calibrated.

If you have an extra $3000 in the bank you absolutely need to spend then either purchase the K6000 or send the money to me.
The bottom line is, the K5200 is so much more card than your old 4000 that it will amaze you, it’s actually more powerful than the old Quadro 6000, but at a fraction of the cost and half the power consumption.
The K6000 will be faster, but if you really need more speed you should consider using one of the less expensive, but more powerful, Titan cards, or even multiples, as both Premiere and AE support multiple cards.

I guess the OP thinks colorists just push the buttons and the application takes over from there?
If using Resolve automatically guaranteed good color Blackmagic would really have something. 🙂
