Some Sony HD Tape decks are very strict on accepting a non referenced video signal. When you are laying off the material – what is the channel condition of the deck? You could try timing the output of the FCP in to the deck???

I have actually managed to trace the problem back to the Kona driver, I have downgraded to an earlier version (7.5.1) with the same capture and sequence settings (Kona 3 1080i/25f ProRes 422) and everything works fine (touch wood!)

I have checked all the capture/sequence settings I can think of…they all appear to match.

Just to add – when I import the captured material into the timeline and after I ignore the “clip and sequence settings to do not match” error message I am unable to render the video to ProRes.

    Thanks,

I’m hoping the rumoured new FCP will support Hyper threading…

    Thanks for the response,

The monitor we are using is a JVC HDSDI glass monitor which has negligible latency so I doubt whether this is the cause. The really annoying thing is the randomness of the problem!

I should have pointed out on my original post that the problem only exists on the monitoring – all exports to quicktime are fine.
